Check for ltl company terminals. There should be a ton in that area.
You may have to start on dock,or work nights, but its not impossible.
List an address close to where your looking, and do some face to face
walk ins to inquire about a job.
Good luck to ya,and do the leg work, and it will pay off.
Edit``Do Not Mention Bad Back!!They won't touch you with 10 ft pole.
You may need no touch freight? -
How recently have you driven? Possessing a CDL doesn't mean much anymore without recent experience.
-
nothing really for experience, but my army job is transportation management coordinator in a logiditcal unit and i have the civilian hazmat certifier certificate. ( technical transportation of haz mat - i think is the civilian name for it)
and i have driven dump trucks and such for the army. -
i can lift some stuff, as long as its not really heavy like 75+ pounds.

There are a couple fuel hauling companies around there. Lack of real world driving experience may hurt but the fact you are a vet may help.
