COEUR D'ALENE, Idaho -
A truck driver trying to deliver a load of Oregon sand to a northern Idaho golf course's sand traps drove into a trap himself when his GPS sent him down a narrow route through the forest.
Beauty Creek Road got ugly for Demetrio Rayo of Ontario, Oregon, on Wednesday when his tractor-trailer partially rolled off the single-lane U.S. Forest Service road that is washed out in places.
Rayo tells the Coeur d'Alene Press that his GPS told him that was the way to Gozzer Ranch, but he started having doubts when he encountered no traffic and no place to turn around.
He made it six miles before the trailer rolled. The truck remained upright but twisted. Rayo says it's totaled.
Authorities say no sand spilled into the creek.
Another "Blame It On The GPS" story!

I know I'm old and not up on the latest stuff, but has the GPS replaced the cell phone? Seems a call to receiver......never mind.. Just old fashioned I guess.
-
No doubt, a phone call would have saved much trouble.
-
Would You consider this a Sand Trap? How would you scratch this on the old score card?
-
I guess the old saying is true... you can't buy common sense. Or the other one... common sense doesn't cost two cents.
Shaggy Thanks this. -
i think i've taken that road before. picked up wood from a lumber mill somewhere south of that area. and that road was a straight up shot to the 90. almost.
i didn't have any problems. if it's the road i'm thinking of. been awhile. -
No place to turn around? Gee driver,That stupid gear called reverse. Back it up a few thousand feet and your GPS will reverse direction also

Been there done that, never again ( taking directions from a old lady with 2 Cadillacs mint condition from the 1970s and numerous cats on her property that was i blind to understand at the time she never left her home ) Sweet old lady, she could of sold me the moon and to bring her back a t-shirt
