If you have an old truck without all of the pollution stuff-DPF Filter// DEF Liquid// NOX sensors. DIfferential Pressure Sensors get the engine rebuilt and thank the lord for blessing you. All of our 2011 D13 engines have had new injectors and cups at 250000/ several have had new EGR Coolersw// The coolent resivoirs have to be replaced on most of them. When you buy a resivoir it comes with the temp sensor on it because you cant replace one withoput it leaking. The lines to the resivoir are hard plastic with o rings they get brittle. We have had to replace 4 radiators--not warrantied becaused the lines caused it. Oh...well

Bad lane management no. I am not an otr company! i run myself and my driver out and back each day.we do local regional work I live in PA which isn't always good. I like to stretch out and run otr some times but i enjoy being home with my family each day, and still keep the lights on by doing so. It works for me that's all that matters i guess. I dont hual nothing lees then $2.00 MIN! on long hauls.

You've probably already decided what to do by now, but you can get a GE Capital loan, no money down at 9% interest, making a $140,000 truck payments equal to $2600- per month. This is an installment loan, but you aren't locked into making the interest payments if you pay extra toward principal in advance. Early payoff charge is only one time $150-.

I went with a new truck because of the superior engineering of most recent models. I bought a Volvo VNL780 that has the Volvo D13 engine and iShift auto. The 12 speed automatic transmission is now a decade in production and very reliable for Volvo. It sure beats shifting my 13sp Eaton. The truck has numerous safety features to prevent jackknifing the rig on ice, hill assist from stop on a grade, and anti-roll over on ramps. These are also a few years in production and proven reliable, being basically computerized improvements over the original ABS brake system. But, above all is the CARB compliant SCR tech emission system. Getting this right has been really difficult for all the manufacturers, originally because they were defiant and lazy, but more recently because the bugs weren't eliminated. So, if you get the newest truck you can find, you'll likely have fewer problems with this technology, especially over the '09-'11 trucks which were notorious for problems. And, you will be safely away from the old EGR tech that I had in my 2006 Volvo with Cummins engine. Man, that motor design was dirty and had real problems when I tried to put an "after burner" filter on it.

I don't disagree with the "new truck mentality" but the idea of $2600.00 a month payments would keep me up at night worrying. I've got a couple of pre emission trucks and yes I put money into them because they are older but I do my own maintenance and most repairs are pretty straight up. When they do need to go in to the dealer the mechanics have told me they prefer to work on my "old" trucks because they are easier to work on and trouble shooting is also pretty easy. You have to decide what is going to make you comfortable and still sleep at night, the tough part about finding a pre-emission truck that has been taken care of because at this point most have a lot of miles on them, the last one took me 3 months to find one that seemed decent. I've been very happy with them but I don't care care if they aren't show room condition. ( doesn't mean I don't keep them shined up and looking good)

Call me crazy or call me stupid....But this is just my opinion.....I rather have a older, solid,Proven durable truck -PAID FOR AND I OWN THE TITLE-and make money this way then Put down $11-$13,000 on a new truck and have $3,000 monthly note,up worrying if I get sick or god forbid something goes wrong and I can't work for a week or 2 or longer now i m backed up with high notes, interest and penalties.and trying to get caught back up the most trucks I c on side of DA road are the new ones burned up,broke down computer glitches causing truck to shut down,Gotta reset the Regan...screw all dat ...now granted Supposedly these newer trucks are more efficient ,more reliable and more computerized for max benefits....I guess its all on what you prefer....me I rather spend $10-20,000,on a new motor something I own and can appreciate the hard work and time I put in to....but hey what's y I own my truck outright no notes...she's older,Decent paint job, keep new tires everything works...bottom line (( IM HAPPY)) N IDONT GIVE a DAMNN what no other trucker,O/O or company rep says.its mines not theres...and I'm from New Orleans DA 9th ward,CTC TO B EXACT.....BUT WISH U DA BEST ON YOUR ENDEAVOR
