My journey has officially begun, I just got my CDL this morning.:biggrin_25525:

There's a local place hiring, They tell me they need a 10 year employment history from me. They basically need a history of every job I've ever had.I can provide accurate employment dates as far as 5 years back because ive been with the same company, its just the jobs 6 years plus back I cannot recall, but they were at places like petco, blockbuster, a mom and pop pet store, TGI Fridays..you know, places I worked during high school and college.

do the employment dates for those early jobs have to be totally accurate?

Do you recommend going to the Social Security Administration and paying for the complete employment history(is it necessary to do this?), or do you think I can put approximate employment dates for those positions without it effecting my application?

    thank you

Mostly all applications, for any type of job, only requires the month and year of employment for said company. I personally haven't seen many applications that require exact days, and for the ones I have, I just put down the first of that month. But if you're that worried about it, I guess you could go get your complete history.

Maybe I'm wrong but I think since you're new you really have no "job history" in trucking and that's what they want. The Dept of Homeland Security wants to know where you've been the last 10 years...you know all of the "terrorist Training camps you've visited"...:biggrin_25525: Just put down the one you've been at for the last I believe 5 year and then fill in the blanks with the others as closely as possible. Just tell the truth , which I'm sure you'll be doing...Congrats and Good luck MOVING FORWARD...BE SAFE...

I typed this while on hold for the SSA. I just spoke with the Social Security Administration, they say its $102.00 for your complete employment history and they dont provide start/termination dates just the years you worked there and how much was made. I guess that answers my question.

The price for 10 yrs of work history used to be $35 after you filled out a form... but apparently the SSA stopped using the forms they used to and changed their policy, now its $102... I cant see my blockbuster dates and petco dates being worth it. ill map out a timeline as best i can for the dates. i cant see how they can charge that much money for someones employment history...

Wow ! Estes as a newbie....Man Nightwind I sincerely hope you KNOW just how very lucky you are. That is one of the better freight hauling jobs in the industry today any where! If they hire you , you'll have some of the best pay and one of the best benefit packages around man...plus they are a company that you can retire from....you said you were 26 I think....30 years you'll be 56 + / - a year and if you're smart you'll have a retirement package loaded-up with enough to retire early....I just reired in 2011 after 33 years with GSF (Golden State Foods)...only worked 1 other job my entire 40+ year career driving....Take it for what it's worth from a guy who stuck it out with a great company.....unless it just becomes un-bearable...and with Estes I'm betting it won't....you've hit the Jack-Pot man.....Wow.....that's great!

I didnt realize all that, but ive heard good things about them...with a reaction like that from someone with your experience, I'm making doubly sure to come prepared. I'll keep ya updated, Old Dominion and Conway are on my list should Estes not work out.
