Workman not the best... but not a lot of quality CB/11 meter stuff around these days. I can say I recently bought an Astatic and was surprisingly pleased. It's not the same Astatic company of old, but the meter was pretty nice.
-
Radioshack has one for around $40 that is good.
Picklechips Thanks this. -
Ive heard that the Radioshack ones were nice. Astatic ones I heard were crap but I think Ill be buying a astatic and hope for the best.

Key is Radio Shack WERE nice. Not for a while. No kidding, the Astatic replaced an RS I was given. I watched it fluctuate erratically. Used an old Johnson CB test set I have to verify the RS meter was NG. Threw it away. I am so far happy with the Astatic. Again not the old time quality, but it seems to be OK. The ONLY thing I see is the settings are overly sensitive. A slight adjustment of the knob makes a huge difference. A bit inconvenient but once set it seems to be solid.

Well, I didn't see any posts for days, so I ordered the Workman.
The Radio Shack in my hometown keeps sporadic hours. I went there yesterday at 6 PM to buy a 102" whip, ball and spring, and coax to put on my 1973 Toyota Land Cruiser and they were closed.
No sign on the door with business hours or anything.
No wonder Radio Shack is struggling to stay in business, huh?
Thanks for all of your replies. I guess I'll see how the Workman works out. -
Well, I can't say I would reommend the workman... and I did'nt. But you were lucky the radio shack was closed... They sell cheap junk at highly inflated prices, Too bad I threw out my radio shack meter right before I got th Astatic. You could have had it for postage, It was the older 3 face model. Still not great but better than what they put out now. The modulation meter was out.... Others were OK. Probably not a difficult repair but I didn't want an RS meter, period. The workman is probably as good as the equivalent RS model, more likely better and I would guess it cost a bit less.
