Ok I was rejected. Not coming to Cargo. Time to apply with the TRANS AMS and USA of the world. Gotta do my time in the minors, I guess. Feel like a felon. Also dropped one on Millis too. Had to give myself some hope.

Hello George. My name is David Clem. I have been here on the forum for many months, mainly doing research, but also reading about the exploits of some very colorful characters. It has made for some enjoyable reading and I have developed a few favorites. John Boy is one of them. I have read all if his thread and remember when you got in his truck. You were lucky to have had him.
Let me say I am sorry for your situation right now. I have been and continue to be in your corner. I hope you will allow me to offer a few words of encouragement.
Firstly, you are not a felon. You made some mistakes. We all do. It happens. Now is when your character and your education begin. Although you had a great teacher in John Boy and an incredible supporting cast, your situation is different now. It is what you do now and how you use the knowledge you have, that will help you get through this difficult time. IMHO, you have the strength and character to make it through this just fine. You may have to go somewhere you don't think is good, but you won't know until you get there. Everything in life is what we make of it George, and you of all people have it in you to turn a negative into a positive. Don't stop believing in yourself. If John Boy said at one time that you were good to be in your own truck, you received the acknowledgement of an experienced and safety conscious driver. Don't forget that he seen enough in you to cut you loose. Yes, you made some mistakes that seem to me, all boiled down to a lack of patience, if you don't mind my saying. You were in a hurry and forgot to think about what you were doing at that moment. Those are easily fixed my friend. As someone stated in another thread, don't ever forget to keep the main thing the main thing.
Now, pick yourself up, brush off the dust, and get down to business. Flood everyone with your applications and keep telling the truth. You will be given a second chance, somewhere. It's what you do with it that will count. Keep your chin up driver and do not give up! Best of luck to you Mr. Torresgntorres61, RoadCall, jungHo and 3 others Thank this. -
Well, thank you David for your kind words. And not speaking for George, I just want to reiterate two things I have told George over and over, and will say once more, he will become a driver, and everything we do on a daily basis with these trucks requires the utmost patience.
George, do not give up, if this is your dream, do everything in your power to secure a job, when I was a little boy I too had a dream to drive one of these trucks one day, that was almost fifty years ago, I chased after that dream, had bumps in the road, was rejected many times, but you know what? I never gave up. Now after doing this for 33+ years I can honestly say that everything I endured early on has made me what I am today, and if I had too, would walk the same path I did 33 years ago. Good luck, if you need anything, call me.Gangstatruccer, runningman0661, jungHo and 2 others Thank this. -
Thanks John and David. I have put in four apps. Trans Am, USA trucking, Watkins&Shepard, and Millis. I will make the best of it regardless where I end up. Waiting is the hard part. I really appreciate your support. I believe the incidents have already made me a better driver. Just need someone else to see that.
Shovelhead78 and JohnBoy Thank this. -
CT could do a better job planning..or at least communicating like they want drivers to do..ld shows no window..get there..find out first in/first out..take split to make appt time then find out could have taken full break..probably same everywhere..Just frustrating when you try to plan your day..like getting to a cons. night before to have brk in before unload and find that pre plan had you sitting all day anyway..could have left the house 8 hrs later..sunday dinner with family..it's frustrating is all..if they could fix that drivers could manage time better..run more miles or more home time
Gangstatruccer Thanks this. -
All that being said..don't think I've found a better company to work for..or should i say...work with..treat you like family..every fleet leader knows your name..Not just your fleet leader..that's always a good feeling
smurf-316 Thanks this. -
Purple Elephant's criticisms are dead on.
That said, Ive been with Cargo for a year and love the company. They do what they say they're going to do.smurf-316 Thanks this. -
Something that hasn't been addressed yet is that they have forced per diem. I don't like it, but it's not a deal breaker.

Just to clarify, are we talking about cameras facing OUT or IN?
The ones that face out are in fact a good thing.
Yikes. I thought I was scruffy looking. -
Drivecam faces forward and inward. It would be of little use unless you could prove what the driver was doing before the crash.
It will record 8 seconds before the crash and 4 seconds after.
