And Melton has all you just listed. Apu, company matched 401k, blue cross blue shield insurance, 48 states and canada if ya want, pay for tarping, hazmat, canada, oversize, stop pay and detention.

They are not perfect and yes I've had pissed off moments but a bad day here is still far better than a good day at previous carriers.

Melton, Tmc, maverick are the big ones I'd mention. Tmc has the 2 week training which actually teaches you a ton, and Todd can be quite the anal prick up in safety, but he's good at what he does. Melton has nice trucks and all the options, though tmcs new rigs have bunk heaters on them, tvs in the sleepers, and a power inverter already installed. Melton drives 10 speeds I believe? Tmc is going to 9 speed for line haul, and maverick is automatics. They all have good equipment though, just little bit different freight and options. It's all in what fits you!

What is Melton's home time like if you live in the Midwest?

Don't quote me cause I'm no expert and this is just what I "remember" from a post, but I think it's a weekend for every 2 or 3 weeks. It could have changed. I know a driver tried recruiting me a couple years back in a truck stop and it was 2, but as we all know, companies love to change things on us.

1 day for every week and there is no limit. They allow you to bank your days where most companies max you out at 4 days off. I'm going to take 7 days off this week in fact.

Melton??? They like Maverick use 5/16" dog chain for securement. Unlike TMC and PGTT who use the 3/8" chains. TMC has a great tarping program, better have as it takes 2wks to go thru it. Their rules are very strict. Also heard Pat Galagher is buying controlling interest in TMC (already owns 49%). Dunno how. true.

Tmc is employee owned. Harold still owns majority and could be selling it? I mean, he gave it to his kid once and most people know how that turned out, but I'm interested to know who Pat Galagher is? Or is he the owner of PGT? I know anything is possible now that they switched to "employee owned," but I guess we will see.

5/16" grade 70 chain was a WLL of 4700lbs. The stake pockets in the flatbed they haul and most all aluminum deck flatbeds are only rated to 5k. Why the hell would you want to lug around all the extra weight risking injury and guaranteeing extra frustration dealing with 3/8" chains when the stake pocket will just rip out before the chain breaks.

I've always had the option of the "coil package" trailers or whatever with the chain ends that come out of the deck. Stake pockets are always a risk.
