So I know this may be odd and/or not the right place to ask but which trucking company has a contract with caterpillar? I ask this because I believe there is a plant that is kinda close to where I live and it might be kind cool to haul parts for them.
Caterpillar contract???

If you're talking about the Clayton, NC location Prime delivers there regularly.
-
Cat shippers are wicked slow at loading.
Run 8 hours to consignee jit.
Cat does the prison program in Indiana.
Won't hire the prisoners when they get out.
They say they do. But dont.
Delivered to Pendleton Wabash terre haute
Knocked out the whole lockup series almost!
Docks in Pendleton are weird.
Blind side dip up against the wall prisoners unload ya while the others are in the yard in front of ya.
Loads usually 44k
Had some partials at 22-28k
I've seen everyone in there.
Conway
Usx
CSRT
USA
Falcon
Just depends what area.
Cat makes good stuff just a bummer they lie about the prison reform program. -
Swift hauls to them, Keen hauls out and brokers the loads going out as for machines. It is considered there yard. Prime also hauls in stuff, not sure who else. I have gotten some loads out of there before as a TMC specialized driver and I know others who have hauled out of there for different companies.

Who ever is the lowest bidder during contract times. They will have several carriers, but the lowest bidder this year, may get cut next year
milskired Thanks this. -
This is easy, you have to ask them.
There is something they used called a preferred vendors list and these are companies that applied to them and were qualified to do work for them. Here you may find the broker or trucking company where they channel their loads that you can call and ask. Once they are on the list, there is negotiation of rates and so on. -
Ok so from what I'm gathering its really depends on who is cheapest so it may differ from month to month.

while caterpillar may be financially strong..I Personally would NOT want to haul for them...Too big for me
Im a 1 truck operation,.....I Prefer the Small manufacturing, distributing and suppliers...
I Dont like being in a 'pool' of carriers begging/bargaining for contract freight..Not worth the time and effort.
Plus,As another user said....The Bigger you are, the longer you wait on Loading,Unloading etc..
Wonder oif they take 45-60 days to pay the carriers too? Who knows..... -
Prime is pretty much all drop and hook with cat, with the occasional live unload at cat retail/service locations.
