They have a new app that I can check weight in a pre-trip?

Exactly,100% on the nail. We can only hope that new drivers see it this way. It's redundant when you're in the same truck day after day. But you never know if someone was trying to mess with you while you were away getting something to eat or asleep or just something failed over night. It just makes common sense to do a quick pre-trip so you're on top of the game then at the end of your day do the post trip with the report. That's when I made any repairs so I wouldn't lose any driving time the next day. When I hauled gasoline the pre-trip and post trip inspections made simple sense because you were only on that truck for 12 hours. You know the other driver who is driving that same truck and you trust him or her but when it comes to my own safety I prefer to trust myself the best. The system works very well for slip seaters because when I was on the day shift I would look over the report and sometimes find an item or items and the shop was closed. So I'd go fix the truck before making any loads. It's very important to have the mechanic sign off on the repairs unless it's was something the driver could fix like a light bulb. It's nice to have all the paperwork done correctly and up to date so there's no worriers there.

Most pre trips amount to getting out of the truck, looking at the trailor and taking a leak.

How in the world does a 3 month old tell us to do a pretrip? #### if i dont do my pretrip everyday. 50 psi on a steer tire you would notice the pulling to one side or the other. Yes i do my pretrip before i start my day or my clock. this way if i find a low or flat tire i can either air it up or if it is flat get it changed and then clock in and not waste my hours waiting to get it fixed. eventually you will find away that you will do your pretrip almost the same way everyday.

DO we have an admission of falsified log books here ? Doing a pre-trip before starting your day or your clock ? You Outlaw You
-
Nope i still log on when i get done and still gotta wait those 15 minutes like we are suppose to. Sometimes ya gotta get that coffee or bathroom break in orheck scrape those #### bugs off that windshield lol.
-
Still, it is a log violation if you do a pre before you are on-duty.
You try to justify it by saying that you log on and then sit for 15, but you are in violation - period.
So don't say 'nope' when you know full well otherwise! -
....and I will continue to do this when time permits. I'll try to live with myself.Moosetek13 Thanks this. -
We all do things that are not totally square.
Just sayin', own up to it.
