It's up and down right now! Things will pick up for the summer I am sure!

I have been with Landstar for about a year and a half and this month has been the best to date. I finally got good paying loads out of bad areas. Went from Dallas to Kent Washington for $2.80 (all-in) a mile and got a $2.40 (all-in) out down to Houston. Been bouncing up and down to Pacific Northwest back down to Texas for no less than $2.40 a mile. I just keep calling and emailing agents I have done business for before and they always call me with good paying freight that weighs less than 10K LBS.

If you are telling the honest truth, it sounds like you've had a very blessed and lucrative week. This is very motivating for me, seeing as how I am interested in becoming an entrepeneur and buying myown truck. I want start that phase of my career with LandStar and eventually obtain my own authority. I can't wait until next year. For know, I just soak up all the knowledge I can.BigJon310 Thanks this.

I ran a load for $4.50 then one for $2.39 then $4.10 then $2.89 then $3.52 and $3.89. Two weeks ran about $18,000 gross revenue all legal flatbed freight. Pretty darn decent I would say and flatbed freight is definitely trending upward from last year which was disastrous.

I am in my 14th year at Landstar.
milskired and CarolinaTrucka Thank this. -
I do a lot of convention center loads from Seattle/Portland area down to Texas. Those loads usually pay good and are never over 20K LBS. I also keep 75 moving blankets with me plus 60 ratchet straps to help increase my freight base.

Hey Dewey, are you flatbed as well?
-
No I am to lazy. Just run a dry van. I have been looking around for my own trailer lately. Those great Danes through the LCAPP program are nice and don't require a big down payment.
CarolinaTrucka Thanks this. -
What advice could you give me on finding freight, or should I say, agents that have loads paying similar mileage rates as you and CHUBBYBUNNY have mentioned? Also, is it possible to make those numbers on driver unload freight? This I think will be my niche and sonething profitable/lucrative, that would set me apart from other BCO's. Thanks
