Why spend Big money on a hyped up Radio when you can buy a Cobra 29 LTD, buy a decent kicker to run behind it and get more than 100 Watts for what could be less Money???

If you're wanting an AM/SSB radio, buy a Cobra 148GTL and run it with a decent kicker for a little more money than the 29 set up will cost.

If you don't want to run an amp I like the Stryker 655 or 955. But 400 will buy you a Cobra 29 and a Davemade 2 pill. The Stryker can put out 100 watts but the 29 with a 2 pill can put out 300 watts for less.

I will post what radios I have in the morn, I've just never got very big into power on a radio and now I'm just trying to make a point another local driver that he's not the only one out there that can have a big radio.. I have some pretty good ones I think but they have been sitting in a box in my basement for several years now I will dig them out in the morn and post what I have to work with... My buddy told me today he has a Palomar 250 I have if I wanted it but the radio would have to be tuned to it, I know nothing about CB radios.

I got a Stryker 655 tuned I'll sell ya only 2 weeks old. Plus the big antenna it's was tuned with. For 300. I've got 600 in all of it. Only reason I'm selling is I went bigger.

The 98 VHP is a nice radio, but for what you pay for one (over $450 new) you could buy a cheap Cobra 29 from a yard sale for $10 and add a nice amp.

But the fact of the matter, is before you even do that, you want to ensure your antenna is a good one. Not only of those 4 ft. fiberglass whips either. Get a Sirio 5000 if you can. No they don't sell them at truck stops but they're 5 ft. tall and are said to talk like a 102 whip which is the best antenna. Or a Wilson 2k trucker is good too.

A better antenna is better than a bigger radio.

Judging by your phone #, looks like you're in Missouri....do you go no facebook at all? We have several CB radio buy/sell/trades there. One guy named Lowell lives in the boot heel of MO and often sells Stryker radios and such. I hear he's honest to deal with.
