Why didn't he pull forward and take another run at it? I mean, how would someone not know in this situation that they weren't straight? I'm a neat freak, if I'm not exactly between the two lines with the same amount of space on each side of the trailer and it's parallel, then even though I probably don't need to, I pull up and take another run at it and try to make it as perfect as I can. I think I'm trying to win an award that I'll never get in that regard.![]()
Ok seriously?

You should of got his truck/trailer number and sent the pictures along with a complaint to Werner's safety department. Let them know what kind of idiots they are setting loose on our highways. Does Werner sponsor these people to come here from Somalia or what?Lowa3468 Thanks this.

All I got to say is that it's a good thing certain members around here wear neckties, else they'd not be able to see where they were going! It is really necessary to go around the forum and be a #### everywhere you go? </rant>
It's obvious the guy's a rookie, as anyone with any experience could hit that dock better than that in a blizzard. And I'd guess Werner has a fair idea of the quality of idiots they turn loose, I'm sure their repair bills reflect that quality.
Here's a flowchart for the time delay derived location hombre:Last edited by a moderator: May 25, 2014

Easy. You could say the same thing about 99% of those at the controls of vehicles of every description. Who are we going to blame for that?
It is not that they "can't" do better, they refuse to do better.
The streets adjacent to exam stations are piled elephant eye-high with discarded education and training. Education and training are what is suffered to obtain a license. Afterward, it is thrown out the window in favor of far more lenient standards of their own invention.
The only person responsible for all manners of operation of any vehicle is whomever is at the controls; not their school/s, instructor/s, trainer/s, or examiner/s.Lowa3468 Thanks this. -

I don't get what the ops problem is, really? It looks to me like the Werner driver not only parked at the dock in a smart way but a safe way, 1. No truck could get next to him on his driver side (which means he doesn't have to worry about some idiot hitting him on that side.) and 2. He left enough room on the other side so a driver would have plenty of room to back in without hitting him either. 3. If there were 2 doors to be used then the Werner driver could be off loaded that much quicker.
how does op know that the warehouse people didn't ask him to park that way?
you all on here really, not using your heads, or thinking abilities about the whole situation here,
and I'm not sure where op gets off or comes up to be the authoritative figure about telling another how to do something, or how one drives down the road really???
op needs to get over himself/herself and let it be as clearly seen in his pics, as by your pics really cannot tell how Werner could be wrong or at fault.Shaggy Thanks this. -
Who are you talking about?

One of two things has happens here. Either (a) you didn't look at the pictures or read the post or (b) you have no concept of how backing a truck works. I'm hoping it's option a. The second pic I posted is a view directly pointed at the door he was blocking. The nose of his of his truck is easily 5-6 feet to the left of where one would reasonably park. Look at how the Crete truck on the left and the Prime truck in the right are parked. Both are reasonably straight and inline with the dock. There's your context.
More importantly, you missed the whole point of the post. This Werner driver not only did a crap job of putting it into the door (everyone does it once in a while) but when I pointed it out to him (politely) he flipped me off and rolled up his window. He only fixed it when another driver showed up and needed the door he blocked 10 minutes later. The point of this post was if you're new and help and advice is offered take it.
I'll be the first one to say I'm not an expert. But I've been safely driving truck for close to 8 years and I've learned a thing or two and I call em like I see em. And I'm not so ignorant or full of myself that I won't take advice when it's given. That is all.Last edited: May 25, 2014

It's not you...

I looked at the pictures and I've read your posts. I know how to back up. So the guy was a rookie. So? He's from Somalia. So? If he wasn't blocking your assigned dock door, what business was it of yours? You went up to him "politely." Doesn't sound like he thought so. And you snapping pics of his truck probably didn't raise his comfort level either. It was up to the Martin driver to say something; he did, the guy moved, Martin got in. End of story.
Your pics are a valuable lesson for the newbies: don't park this way. But there's a saying out here that goes back more than eight years: "You can only drive one truck at a time. Let it be your own." Here's another saying: "Unasked-for advice is the worst kind." Lowa3486 didn't miss anything.
