As an Indian, I think the cops were overreacting when they arrested this guy. The cops claim he was shaking like he was on something...... well hmmm....the guy flipped his car over.....he's in shock.

 

Lots of opinions and that's about all there worth. Alcohol effects people differently than THC and both have different time values of detox in the blood stream. Apparently studies reveal that THC after 8-10 hours lose any impairment effects,good or bad. Your not stoned any more. Something like 100 ng/ppm. Point being people WILL abuse this substance in every way possible, just like they do Alcohol. IMO and it's only mine, when and if standards for THC are implemented they will be similar to Alcohol which is 0 tolerance when behind the wheel. That being said since Alcohol is water based and disapates rapidly while THC is not you have a lingering trace in the blood stream. Either way people have a difficult time operating their vehicles in a safe and sane manner while sober. Apparently they do not take driving as a serious activity.

 

Too late. There are drivers smoking and driving as we discuss this, personally I'd rather be on the road with drivers high on the weed, then drunks or dudes on meth sleep deprived

 

I can't see how it would stand up in court. Just like the cop said, it is legal and so is gasoline and spray paint. The difference of course that it is illegal to be under the influence and drive while huffing gas or paint. As yet there isn't a precedent for this nut...yet. I'm sure it's a cultural thing, but the stuff looks nasty to me.

 

This is a funny thread. We have people here that have never smoked attesting to it's effects and length of effects and one moron here actually saying if you EVER tried it you shouldn't be driving a truck. lol

I don't smoke and I don't drink. I have done both many years ago. I was a stupid drunk and cautious stoner. Alcohol was a huge problem for me. I don't think you should be allowed to drive under the influence of either tho I most definitely fear being on the road with drunks WAY more than stoners. No comparison.
I don't think pot should be illegal. Especially when alcohol is. If you've never tried pot you have no business posting as to it's effects. You have no basis for doing so and your opinion is totally irrelevant.
Should a truck driver be able to smoke on a Friday and drive on a Monday? I don't know and quite frankly I don't care.
Who said a stoner is still under the influence days after smoking. Raise your hand so I smack you for being stupid.
I see a problem with weed still being in your system for days and weeks after smoking. Would make it hard to make it legal to do as long as you're not under the influence while driving. Better safe and just not allowing it since there's no way to test if you're under the influence or just still in your system from 3 days earlier.
Conclusion: If you want to drive truck you shouldn't be allowed to smoke pot. period.

 

I used to smoke weed. I don't anymore because I would lose my livelihood. Even though there is a push to legalize it, it is still illegal on the federal level. That's why pot shops in Colorado can only except cash despite it being legal there on the state level. Banks won't let them open credit card accounts because they are federally mandated and technically they would be involved in money laundering. Of course the criminals know this and many shop owners have been robbed because they carry around large amounts of cash.

Another problem is they still have not come up with a way to accurately test your blood level of intoxicants like they can with alcohol. Technically, Colorado allows for 5 nano-grams of THC in your system while driving, but it's not as easy to test as alcohol and there are a lot of variables regarding how quickly you metabolize it like amount of usage, body fat and even diet/exercise. Until they sort all that out and legalize it on a federal level it will remain a no-no for CDL holders regardless of whether they smoked an hour ago or last week.
