If you are a resident of California you can get a library card for each/every county to access even more free audiobooks.

Another library app is OneClickmedia. It works the same way with a library card number I have both that and overdrive on my phone.

NC has libraries grouped together in overdrive. You can access books from many at the same time

This is incredible. I guess they're going to put Audible out of business as they have a large selection and new releases. Looks like most cities have some version of this. Wish I had learned of this sooner.

Almost makes the 12% state implied personal income tax, worth it! Almost...

Audible will always be around. There is still plenty of stuff they sell that my library doesn't. I find myself listening to books that I didn't want to pull the trigger on for $15. Mostly older works.

There was one book I put a hold on that had 111 people in front of me. Somehow you don't mind standing in line in cyberspace. The email will come eventually.

Even doing LTL work and Pedaling freight 14 hours a day the audiobooks help a lot. A couple of years ago a handful of us got together and turned all our collected books into mp3s for our players. and we each have a back up of the collection if somebody should loose a hard drive . Between us 5 drivers and 5 friends with long commutes we put together a collection of over a 1000 books it is really cool having the library to work from .I am now retired and driving special needs kids and still spend a lot of time driving so they still come in handy.

I'm in Oklahoma and looks like it works the same way. I hadn't thought about waiting lists. I just got signed up so will have to see if it's going to be feasible. Our library system uses an app and software called Overdrive. Sure hope I can save that $15 a month but I am kind of picky and peculiar about my reads.

It will work. There is no limit to the number of holds you can put in for. They email you when its available and you have 3 days to download it. You should be able to get any book they have eventually.
