I was in the granny lane going through Grand Rapids, just before the "S" curve Eastbound on I-96 and I could see traffic coming to a halt due to rush hour traffic. I throw my flashers on and shift down, going about 45. This was back in January. Road was clear and dry. Both lanes to my left are coming to a stop fast.
This crazy lady, hauling ### in a Monte Carlo (probably texting) comes barreling up the center lane, realizes she is about to rear end the cars in front of her and then recklessly creams into my front, driver side bumper and steer tire. I think she was aiming for the hole in front of me but got pinched.
She hit me #### hard, shoving me into a very high snowbank. Witness behind me saw the whole thing and stayed with me and then gave a report to the police. State police ticketed her and I was allowed to go on my merry way.
When I go to apply with a new company, I plan to tell them exactly what happened. I did not cause the accident and could not have prevented it in any way.
Do you think it will still hurt me?

This is what I feared. I've got to get a copy of the police report.

You have a witness that gave a police report, and the other driver was cited.
I doubt you will have a problem with it.

No it won't hurt you. I wouldn't spend too much time with all the details. If you say anything at all, just say a car ran into you and the cops charged her. If the interviewer wants to know more they will ask.

    WillGlen and bergy Thank this.

I was bob tailing in ga going under a over pass and a old man and his wife was exiting the freeway and ran the stop sign at the bottom of the off ramp and hit me in the tandems. No issues with my truck but their front end was ripped off. My company ask what happened I told them and I took pics with the camera they kept in our trucks and not another word was said. You should be fine

This might be a dumb question but,
do US drivers have access to their own DAC report? Or is it some kind of ... "members only" "club" ?

If it is not on your report, and is not on any of your personal records, then really ... it didn't happen?

Interesting that they wouldn't hire you because of that. They must feel like I do...that even when a driver is not at fault, they probably could have avoided the accident anyway. When the not at fault accidents start to pile up....it raises a flag.

We had a driver work for us for almost 3 years: he was rear ended twice, got hit in truck stops twice...all by other truck drivers and none of them his fault....after a while you start to wonder don't you?

LOL there was always something with that guy....transmission broke, then a diff went out, then he took the nose off another truck in a truck stop (but they never made a claim), then he got rear ended, then someone hit the trailer, then he got rear ended, then someone hit the trailer again, then the trailer caught on fire. He had 10 yrs worth of stuff in 3. Clean abstract though. And no claims.
