Yea I had a safety director that used to say that as well but I told him if they expect you to run on ice, and you have a wreck, its their baby.

My father would be quick to point out that had you left the house 30 minutes earlier you would not have been there when the wreck occurred so it is your fault for being so lazy as to sleep all the time that caused the wreck.
However, you don't work for him so you should be alright.
In the US, everyone works at will. That means that they can fire you or refuse to hire you without providing a reason. There are folks who seem to attract accidents. As long as this is your only accident it will not effect you. If it becomes a pattern it will.WillGlen Thanks this. -
Even if he's wrong, he's still mostly right.
That's what is so incomprehensible about crashes, and why they aren't accidents; the very vast majority can be prevented, because they are the results of willful poor judgment, not lack of knowledge, or skill, or experience.
But not by relying on fast reaction times and emergency maneuvering, that's the way motorists have failed to prevent them for ~100 years. Apparently, motor vehicles cause insanity.70s_driver and WillGlen Thank this. -
I wont argue with you about that. Ill be the first to tell you I could have prevented my little old crash. I could have done one of two things: either slowed down to 10 mph or either by staying off the road to begin with. I had already come 422 miles through the ice and snow from northern Ohio to TN on US 23. I don't know how many of you knows US 23 but its not a fun road to be on in the snow, especially in KY and Va. Got within a mile of where I was headed, hit a patch of Black Ice and smacked the guardrail at 15 mph.

i got hired by mercer and approved by landstar with both accidents on my records.how could i've a avoided another truck rearending me, the pick up truck lost control of his vehicle and came into my lane of traffic.the way i c it is when a company have a high csa score they just dont wanna take any chances and the hiring manager is playing it safe so when the #### hits the fan hes not the guy to blame.WillGlen Thanks this.

As long as the accidents are considered non-preventable then you should be hire able, if they are considered non preventable then troubles being hired is more than likely.
considering your situation is non preventable then you shouldn't have no issues, but get a copy of accident reports and hold onto them for 3 years because they will be necessary in order to get hired or considered to be hired. After 3 years you no longer need to report itWillGlen Thanks this. -

To WillGlen, that's a PERFECT reason to have a dash cam. It's sad it's come to this, but nothing proves your innocence like a video. I was in a crash many years ago, a 4 wheeler hit the brakes, an 18 ran into the back of her, spinning her out right in front of me, and I T-boned her. Final ruling, 60% 4 wheeler's fault, 30% other 18's fault, 10% my fault for just being there. one more thing, many places have 0 tolerance for ANY type of infraction. I have a friend who drives for a company( won't say the name, but it was mentioned in "bad companies") even if you hit a deer, it goes on your record. The boss claims, "you should know where the deer are"

I don't see what is so outrageous about questioning a drivers judgment.
It seems as if many drivers are insulted at any suggestion they or someone else might have made a different decision... and they often omit any rebuttal and just attack the questioner.WillGlen Thanks this.
