Shaggy Thanks this.

again, the drivers methodology you keep referring to is ONLY USED to calculate the score of the carrier. -
And what do you call a violation for speeding that is written on an inspection form, but you never posted bond, went to court, or had the violation adjudicated in a court of law?
they are called warning tickets.
does NOT matter what the FMSCA says, in the real world they are called a warning ticket...
just as any scale that is assigned a number, that number is called a POINT. -
They're two entirely different systems, but have similarities.
edit:
The DSMS and CSMS are two different branches of the SMS. Each has 7 different BASICs and each has different ways to calculate things. For example the carrier ones put them into groups depending on how large the carrier is when doing percentile rankings.Last edited: Jun 1, 2014

Actually the worst part of this convuluted mess is when truck drivers start using the word "points" (what does that even mean, severity weight? Severity weight X time weight? Score? I've heard it all lately) adding another metric to a program that already has too many.

Does CSA assign safety ratings to individual CMV drivers?
k.A.
No. Under CSA, individual CMV drivers are not assigned
safety ratings or Safety Fitness Determinations (SFDs)
https://csa.fmcsa.dot.gov/Documents/Driver_Factsheet.pdf
Again you do not understand that the entire report you continue to refer to, is about one thing
how the FMCSA determines the final score for the carrier...
The FMSCA does NOT have the authority to score or rank individual drivers....
The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration wants authority to release driver safety data, in effect reversing its earlier stance that drivers would not be publicly ranked under the Compliance, Safety, Accountability (CSA) program.
The agency is seeking increased regulatory authority over drivers via the next highway reauthorization bill, according to a February Government Accountability Office report to Congress on CSA progress.
And congress has refused every year... law trumps methodology reports....joseph1135 Thanks this. -
And if you're in a cmv that's unsafe and you've been driving the last 20 hours, once again you are risking other people's lives. The effects of fatigue are no different than being drunk. Reaction time is gone. Rational decision making is out the window. And don't get me started on people who run with bad brakes and NO LIGHTS. You've seen this I'm sure. If you hate having to log and having someone set the guidelines of how safe your vehicle should be, please, find something else.x1Heavy Thanks this.
