I just don't get that... Why 34 hours?? Why not 48 (so a body has an actual WEEKEND off)?? And how do you get away NOT doing a reset??

But the upside is that the "Honey Do" list stays perfectly intact.

It's your option to extend beyond 34 hours if you want. As a night runner on a team my resets are typically at LEAST 48 hours and frequently much longer under the new rules, because I'm ending my shift a few hours after 1 am.
When I ran solo under the new rules I would go as long as there were loads to run without a reset. I think the longest was about six weeks without a reset. Running an average of about 8.5 hours per day will keep giving you continuous hours coming back on the 9th day. -
I never take a restart on the road, no reason to if you manage your time correctly. I just finished up my week with 2,996 miles and 13.5hrs left on my 70. I will get 9.5hrs back tomorrow night. Work smarter, not hander.
Lepton1 Thanks this. -
Oh, no it doesn't! It gets longer and Longer and LONGER... 'til she gets tired of it and divorces your butt.

So, in other words, it's "pay it forward" in action: any time you DON'T burn time during a 14, you can "pay forward" toward the next week; and as long as you don't use up all your 70 hours in 8 days (or 60 hours in 7), you can use that time to avoid the reset.
Or: the "reset" is only required if you work the max time allowed in the work week.
Is that about right? -
reset is NEVER required... Even if you max your 70 hours in 8 days, on the 9th day you get hours back from the first day, and can keep rolling... it is about managing your hours, and NOT wasting any of the 70. I have ran steady, for 10 weeks on the road with NO reset.nightgunner and Lepton1 Thank this.

Sooooo... If I run 70 in 7 days, I'm stuck with waiting 34 hours before I can run again?
-
You can either reset or sit for 2 days and use your recap hours. A reset will give you a full 70. Recap will only give you back the hours you worked on the first day of your fresh 70.
-
I don't quite get the "recap", and how it "gives back" in the situation I just mentioned...
-
Basically if you started on a Monday with a fresh 70 and you used them all by Saturday you wouldn't have any hours to drive on Sunday. You could start a 34 hour reset or you could wait til Tuesday. On Tuesday you would gain back the hours you worked on the previous Monday. The 8 day rule consists of current working day plus the previous 7. Hope that makes sense.

So... "rolling 8-day (or 7-day) week", as far as the present day is concerned...?
