I rolled over the Donald scale near Golden BC yesterday and in typical BC CVSE fashion, the yellow coveralls were on and it looked like they were gearing up for another profitable safety blitz. Nobody was getting the empty/bypass lane.

I never wash my truck when I'm northbound because it's a waste of money. So I rolled over in my filthy truck and got the STOP light with my trailer on the scale.

She came out and took a close look at my trailer wheels/tires, walked up to the cab taking a close look as she went. Looked at my steers then said.....

I was going to inspect you but you're looking pretty good so have a nice day. Didn't even ask for my logbook!

It pays to maintain your equipment at a level that is obvious at first glance. That means tires with adequate tread, tool box doors that stay closed with latches, not rubber straps, etc.

Always try to keep my truck as clean as I can..They look for messy trucks here, i.e., stuff thrown all over the dash, things piled into the door. All tells those who run the scales what type of driver you are. Keep a clean truck inside n out, keep yourself clean, proper pre-trips and truck checking during trips can help at the scales. It may sound like a lot of work but it takes only half an hour to check your truck. Longer to clean it but theres always down time for that.

Hi Truckinchic, I agree. I've always thought a clean truck shows you care about it and, to authorities, are more likely to keep it better maintained. Remember, "A dirty truck, is a dirty shame". BTW, looks good, (and the Mustang and K-Whopper look cool too :biggrin_25525: )

I keep myself & my truck as clean as possible. I keep the truck waxed & my brightwork polished. When the officer walks up to my door, my log book, BOL and registration binder are waiting for him. It's worked well for me since 1974, I'm not planning to change anything.

I DO hope you're kidding. I used to stare them right in the eyes, to show them I wasn't afraid of them.
