Today, we are hurting ourselves with TOO MUCH cleanliness and antisepticness, kids are growing up without decent immune systems, and are helping breed the new superbugs that are spreading like crazy.

Washing hands after you poop, washing your food, cooking thoroughly, not touching others who are sick to keep from getting/spreading sickness, showering regularly is one thing; steam-cleaning floors, counters, cabinets, doors, walls, etc with antiseptics and doing so obsessively is a darn bad idea, and helps make us sicker.

I've been lacto vegetarian for about 33 straight yrs now. But I am not into organic.... Just avoid industrialized food as much as I can, don't eat refined sugar or nothing that has it.
With regard to the cleaning, I wipe my bowl that I use to eat, my cooking pot and silverware with paper towel after I am done. Sometimes I rinse them... Sometimes...
I don't rinse the vegetables that I cook in the truck... :biggrin_25512: I may wipe them with paper towel sometimes...
I keep my floor as clean as possible, sweep it and wipe it every day, don't bring shoes in the cooking area/ sleeper berth and if food, vegetables, fruits fall on the floor, I just put them back in the pot, or in my dish and eat them. Yep! :yes2557: Have been doing this for almost 7 yrs now and that never made me sick. :biggrin_25512:
I am a middle age female, healthy, full of energy, don't get sick, don't have any stomach problems, not even a flu... none of that... :biggrin_25512:
My mom used to say, "What doesn't kill you, makes you stronger." And I believe it. :yes2557:

I was just giving Lepton some ribbing. I'm not suggesting that anyone subscribe to my germophobic way of thinking.

I'll crawl under a truck or dig a trench - just don't hide my purell and make me touch a public door knob. People germs are what get my skin crawling.

Paper towel... :biggrin_2556: Tiny Tim...? :biggrin_25526:
Ok... This needs some clarification.... I was born and raised in another country... So, I am not familiar with many things you guys "say" here...
So... I went online to find out who Tiny Tim was... But I still can't understand what paper towel and Tiny Tim have to do with me... :biggrin_25512: I am lost... :biggrin_25523:

I admire that you can keep to a daily regimen of that particular diet and lifestyle. I'm sure it takes a little time to adjust when you first set out to change the way you eat. I eat very little carbs as in a modified version of Atkins. The only "sugars" I eat are from fresh fruits. It's not easy to stick to this lifestyle. The typical western diet is slowly killing many of us. That's why obesity and diabetes is outta control. You talk about never been sick. That's because you avoid the usual suspects in the west that causes so many problems. But I believe that excessive sugar intake is the main problem. It's all about motivation and the desire to be your best at all times. That will reflect in the way you drive because you have so much energy. I don't thinking would want to give up meat and fish. Just personal preference.
    Good luck.

I was afraid of that, I'm not sure anyone else knows this either...

Tiny Tim was a flash-in-the-pan musician, known for his falsetto voice and ukelele. Well, a number of years ago, he was (iirc) on the Howard Stern Show (when he was still broadcasting out of New York), and they revealed on the air one of Tiny Tim's little "oddities": he was a germophobe. One if his OCD habits was, after taking a shower, he would pat himself dry using--you guessed it--paper towels. One towel at a time, a day he would pat only, no rubbing. You can imagine how many rolls of paper towels he went through on a daily basis.

So: attempt at humor failed. Now I'm gonna call ya "Towelie"... ;-)

My reaction is more akin to shivers of mild aversion...
