I would like to know about any good LTL or Day Cab companies. I have been working as a Net Ops day cab driver for Werner Enterprises. Any good ones in Indianapolis? I have had my eye on Sodrel Truck lines, but haven't found much info on them. Anyone got any scoop on them?

If you're looking for companies like UPSF or FedEx, that's a good city to be in. All the major ltl companies have big operations there.

    Old Dominion
    FedEx Freight
    UPSF
    ABF
    Yrc
    Con-way
    Estes
    R&L

That's a start. Some are better than others but definitely worth checking into.

Dayton Freight has a terminal in Greenwood Indiana. Just off I65 exit 99. The pay and benefits are great. They are always taking applications for both P&D (city) and line-haul drivers. Applications are taken online at their website.

    Indianapolis
    800 Commerce Parkway South Dr
    GREENWOOD IN 46143

How good is Dayton's health insurance? Big deductible? How much per week? Starting out in line-haul do you run open board? Slip seat or assigned tractor's? Thanks

Sodrel does haul mail, although I don't think that's all they handle. I've talked to a couple of their drivers and they didn't have anything bad to say. I do know that Sodrel doesn't hire very often, so reading between the lines that tells me they're a good company to drive for.

Stay away from Ruan if it involves the O'Neal Steel account in Indianapolis.

Had to read that last sentence several times. Those two are also in my area, same property.
Thought it was a just local company with horrible pay. Some googling, Wow multi-billion dollar company.

Ha! That's what I get for not looking at the dates. No wonder I'm always late for the party.

Shaggy, Ruan is a good company to work for and even that account is a good one. That particular location, however, has its own special set of problems.

Ruan advertises weekly on craigslist about a account. From my area to boston a few times a week, it's the Oneal account. The hours invested/stress/pay is not worth it, Just basing my opinion off this classified and how frequently it's posted.

Yeah thought oneal/ruan was a local company. Learn something new each day thanks Naptown

EDIT: thought it sounded odd. We had guys jump ship from oneal and ruan to another big local flatbbeder carrier i worked at with a different steel mill company. Ah excuse my brain fart. Those guys were miserable and didn't find the grass green at the new employer either. Employer at the time was stuck on early 2000's pay structure, Steady work but out dated pay. something oneal didnt have.

I don't miss working for steel mill drama, Miss flabedding though. Useless info :biggrin_25518:
