How does a mechanic sign an elog?
-
Mechanic signs off on what?
He is only there to do the repairs and if it is marked on the MVIR as in need of repair, then he signs it as repaired. Other than that, the mechanic doesn't sign anything.not4hire Thanks this. -
That was kinda my point. Never seen a log with a spot fr "mechanics signature"
-
Yes I know, I am reinforcing your point. I just didn't get a chance to fill the reason for the quote.
HotH2o Thanks this. -
The phrase "safe haven" applies to parking for trucks loaded with explosives.

Scroll down to the second paragraph in section 'B'. THAT is a "safe haven."
Persistence is good. You mean on the shoulder? In real life I cannot imagine anyone sitting "on the side of the road" waiting for hours to move a truck that's been repaired. Might as well put a sign on the trailer that says "Hit Me." If a dispatcher tells you to stay on the side of the road AND to stay in the truck, move the truck off the highway (highway patrol will tell you to do it anyway) then get another dispatcher. By the way, you'll find that HOS regulations often conflict with the real world.
There is no "safe haven" rule in the context of this thread. There are common sense rules.Lux Prometheus and 25(2)+2 Thank this. -
Right, but as many times as I've read that phrase here I'd like at least one person to post a link to this mythical "safe haven" rule.
-
Did you not read the thread??
-
Umm yeah. I read it. I was also referring to the 100+ other times I've seen uninformed drivers talking about the mythical "safe haven" rule that allows a driver to drive an extra 2 hours. It's been posted so many times yet nobody can link the actual rule. I know it doesn't exist but I also don't believe in myths. What do I know?

The only time I ever saw a designated "safe haven" for explosives loads was at the Dixie Truckers Home http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dixie_Travel_Plaza. The "safe" haven was a just corner of the parking lot under a sign that said something like "Safe Haven Only." You could have fit maybe two trucks in there. If a load in the safe haven had exploded, it would have taken out every truck in the parking lot, the buildings and everyone in them, and half the town. They could have renamed it Dixie Truckers Crater.
