I have always been one of those guys in the truck stop that gets out of my truck to be a spotter to anyone that needs, and even a lot that really didnt need help, but I offered to help anyway....
Tonight I was walking back to my truck from the T/S and noticed a truck getting pretty close as he was backing in, so I was walking towards him planning to offer my help..... Until I noticed that he was not alone in the truck, it was then I decided to just walk on by as he has another set of eyes there, mine are not needed....
I just walked on by, until he got out of the truck and came and hollered asking if I could be his spotter, and pointed to the back....
I asked him if he did not have someone sitting in the passenger seat, he said no problem and got back into the truck....
Now here is the way I look at things if your team member is too lazy to get out of the truck to spot for you as you try and park, why should I waste my time, its obvious that there will never be a pay it forward situation with this person if she cannot even spot for her own truck....
Should I have helped the guy? or is this just ridiculous that he had the gall to ask others for help when he had someone in his truck that should be doing this?
First time for everything I guess.....

I def. see where you're coming from, but never skip an opportunity to cultivate good karma.
Skydivedavec, JimmyBones, blazer1 and 2 others Thank this. -
How do you know it was a team member and not a ride along family member who doesn't drive? I know personally I wouldn't want a non driver spotting me
FloTheWaitress, KC Guardrail, tow614 and 2 others Thank this. -
As a rider, I would take any chance for a Driver to spot as opposed to me..
FatDaddy, Skydivedavec, Alaska76 and 3 others Thank this. -
My thoughts, exactly.Skydivedavec, FloTheWaitress and FatDaddy Thank this.

She may have been a rider, but as far as I am concerned her eyes are as good as mine, as a spotter you are not there to tell the driver how to back the truck in, but you are there to let the driver know when he/she is getting too close to anything else.... Maybe I am just getting old and crusty....Dinomite Thanks this.

Except when the spotter who doesn't drive has no idea you can't see them because they are standing in a blind spot out of view of your mirrors and now you have to worry about running them over as well , or panics because they don't understand the physics of how the trailer is cutting and ends up being more of a deterrent than a help.
