In my time there I found myself dead ended in 2 different departments. I figured if I had to get on my knees under a dispatchers desk to get ahead it wasn't the place for me.

Same deal. Different coveralls. -
Maybe so....can't speak about the character of guys I never met I do know that I have NEVER been in an N2 department with the depth of experience and knowledge.

Thanks -
Chris, I have absolutely NO idea why you would go to Ontario this year to bring new people to Alberta. If you look on Kijiji you would find many experienced company and owner operators who are looking for jobs. The difference being is that here in the west, most people know what they are getting into. They know about how Sanjel makes promises to have a salary guarantee in place while the season is busy, and then suddenly take those guarantees away just before spring breakup. I don't know if you still have a camp up in Cold Lake on the weapon range, but the conditions of camp were in a nutshell - crap.
The food was good, and a lot of co-workers were good to work with.
Chris, before you even think about bringing out new people, perhaps you should look at the personnel of your work force. Brian Volk out of Lloydminster branch feels he can bully people into what he wants. He has a complete lack of respect for people who are eager to learn. He throws temper tantrums if you just cant pull one more on call shift for him. I can imagine that he is under pressure from upper management to get the personnel onto the job site to complete a well or whatever, but to start swearing and threatening him with job loss is so wrong because that person can't do another 24 hour shift.
I think Sanjel lost their General Manager who left to go to Energetic a couple of years ago, and i understand directly from him that it wasn't because he was bored.
In truth, I had thought that because Sanjel was a private company and had no shareholders to be accountable to, that they would be a better choice over BJ's and Trican who do have to report.
Somewhere along the way. Sanjel seems to have lost their way and forgot that the person buried deep in concrete and mud is the reason that they continue to exist. I've experienced the "integrity" of Sanjel recruiters. I have no idea if Suzy still works as a recruiter for Sanjel out of Lloydminster - but I resent how she "fluffed" things up.
You know, if you only kept your promises - and you treated people like human beings - you would have people return to you year after year after year.
But instead, you'll waste money and resources driving all over Ontario and giving people false hope. You guys could change your stripes, and go back to people who know the job inside and out, and whats expected. People in B.C., Alberta, and SK are a hard working group of people who would give you their all. Sanjel could be a great employer for both employees and contractors if they would just have some integrity! I'd invite you Chris to invite people to come back to Sanjel and prove to them that you have changed.
That would be Pride by Performance.rainyday lover, NRG, belowspeedlimit and 1 other person Thank this. -

Why doesn't Sangel use Satellite Log Books (EOBR) ? Is that because they find way to get people to work longer hours than allowed???
-
I don't know for sure PB, but they operate with an oilfield permit which allows them to operate for 24 days straight. And if its on a camp site, I think all the rules are thrown out the window.
-
If your not driving the hos don't apply until you have to drive. Then you would need the appropriate amount of time off to do a reset. EOBR is certainly much harder to fudge. They are not always infallible. I can't remember the brand I used, but I was doing paper logs because we were just switching over. I took my time right off the EOBR graph. On several occasions at the end of the day the machine bumped my start time back an hour. I never got a satisfactory explanation for how that was even possible. There is no way in hell I was going to take a logbook falsifying ticket for the bloody machine. So I refused to use it.

Not 24. 3 off in 24 or 21 straight.
Camp makes no difference to most drivers though you can use the 160km rule, if your company is permitted to do that.
You can accuse Sanjel of many things but I doubt they push to have their guys breach HOS. Since I know one guy that was fired for it.
