Well it's official, talked to the recruiter and got my drug screening set for the 14th of july and orientation starting the 22nd of july. All of that depends on how my move goes. I will be leaving San Diego ca this Saturday heading to columbus ohio. Once we get there got to find a place and get our stuff moved in. The downfall is they said my stuff will not be there till the 11th. Gotta love the government. Anyways if everything works out and we get our place and our stuff arrives early I will be changing my dates to start sooner. Can't wait, I know it'll be rough starting out but if I can survive 8 years in the marine corps I should be able to survive this. I have been reading alot of the posts on here and doing a lot of searching and I honestly think it'll be the best match for me. The main thing that has made my mind is seeing the brotherhood on here with all you drivers from Schneider and especially how many of y'all have written about yourselves from the start and don't sugar coat any of it. Well can't wait to get behind the wheel and see you all on the road. And like most I may start a post of daily events just to give me something to do with my downtime. Until next time if you have any words of wisdom to share till then feel free.

I have family in Ohio that I haven't seen in a long while. I am originally from North Carolina where I lived for most of my life and my wife is from California where she has lived 90 percent of her life so we are both ready for a change. Also she can transfer with her job to Ohio but couldn't to North Carolina. And I am aiming for the regional position they have just to get my feet wet then after 6 months I may switch to otr or tanker. Depending on how it all turns out my goal is at about a year or so to get my own truck and go o/o but like I said it depends on how it turns out. From what I have followed from everyone on here it seems I'll fit right in the question is can my wife deal with me being gone so much. Granted it's not a 7 to 10 month deployment but it is time away from home. I'm sure she will be fine once I can get into a routine.

Yea, welcome. Any questions about the Columbus(Obetz) terminal shoot them over. Mickey and I know most of the DBL's here and can answer most of your questions.

The one main thing that had me drawn to Schneider was the dedicated account they have with Honda. I saw it, called the recruiter to get information while still in school, then when it came within the window to apply the position was gone. That would have been perfect for me as my sister lives in Marysville. But we are looking somewhere around central to north Columbus for a place cause my wife's job will be in Worthington and from what I have gathered I'll be based out of Obetz.

well the good news is those positions open frequently. so after 6 months you could apply for transfer or seek another? theres International Paper out of kenton oh. kinda like OTR but reliable miles home weekends. I'm on goodyear accoount, physical job yes , but the pay is great. home most everyday. JC Penney, home most days , pay is really good too.

I thought about looking into the dedicated from the start but wouldn't that affect me if I wanted to go lease with them cause of experience and all?
