Been about 10 years since I left banking, so I can probably figure it out after a couple of attempts.

Make sure they have the causal Fri. and you can go in dressed as a box jockey truck driver.
Tank top/ sweat pants and flip flops. lol But please shower, it might spoil the milk transfer -
I'll wait a couple of weeks to pull in like that.

Hello my fellow truck drivers!
I have to say that I'm really glad that I didn't read any of these posts this time last year before I went to work for Hirschbach. I might have passed up what turned out to be a very good thing, for me. I have driven for Hirschbach for a year now and am a happy driver. Before you ask, yes, I'm a lease driver. I make good money, even though I have had weeks that weren't so very good. I've also had weeks that really exceeded expectations. Just as with every other company out there, the pay varies. One week I may do long runs that don't bring in as much per mile, or several short runs which pay better. Either way, I don't sit unless I choose to.
Hirschbach isn't perfect. As a company, there are issues. I'm not going to sit here and tell anyone that it's all roses. That will never be true of any company. I can tell you that I have found a whole lot less BS here than at previous companies. I'm happy and my stress level is, and stays, pretty low. Of course, I'm not a complacent driver. I often pick up my phone and call shippers/receivers, my dispatcher, and anyone else I deem it necessary to talk to to get my job done. If I don't think it's safe to drive because of conditions or fatigue, I don't drive. I've never had a dispatcher push me to do so. Again, this is me personally and others mileage may vary on this issue.
I'm on the .99 fuel program. Yes, I am given a fuel route to follow. Most of the time the routing is fine and I have no issues with it. When I do, I make a phone call and ask for it to be changed. This is generally not an issue. For example, I had the fuel stops on my last load changed twice. Some fuel stops look better on paper than in reality! Same goes for routes. If I don't like it, I give an alternate option and have never had a problem getting it changed. I've heard lots of xxxxxxxx and moaning about 'forced' routing and fuel stops. I really don't know why I don't have the same problems. Maybe because I don't just accept things. I'm a proactive driver, not a steering wheel holder.
Is Hirschbach for everyone? No. It is a good fit for some, not for others. The same exact thing can be said for every company out there. If you're looking for a driving job, good luck finding a company that you can be happy with!Last edited by a moderator: Jun 18, 2014
