Believe it or not, the chain wallets actually do have a practical purpose.... for bikers. That's so it doesn't fall out on the road while riding.

As far as I'm concerned they all should. It's sickening the way some people dress, and thus portray their companies. No sense of professionalism at all.

I'm always seen in a company shirt, black pants, hat with hair tied back, and work boots. Anything less is inexcusable from where I sit.

    Joetro Thanks this.

I'm at Werner now, ghetto is an understatement. Averitt drivers are always sharp though. They have a strict appearance (dress and personal) code. No long hair, facial hair below the lip, ear rings, other companies logos on while on company time, ect... and they attract a lot of ex military folks I think because of that.. and the pay don't hurt either. For the most part they fuel and such at their own terminals so you don't see them alot at truck stops. Same with UPS folks except they're Teamster.

Not so many years ago, much like a biker, you could spot a driver a mile away, not so much these days.

I've always had the thought that when I start driving OTR, I will keep a couple of my company's polo shirts and a nice pair of jeans in my truck to change into when I'm in the customer's dock. Maybe that would be something that would have shippers/receivers/whoever else treat me with more respect and cultivate less un-enjoyable experiences when loading and unloading. Maybe a dumb idea.

It won't make a difference. 99% of these people have their mind made up about drivers before they ever show up. With good reason

    You want respect from shippers?

    Pull a flatdeck.

    Joetro and peterbilt_2005 Thank this.

I know for the most part I used to wear clothes mainly because its a habit and well I had my lead driver to consider, I know he appreciated me wearing clothes.

Drive Nekked. Oh that is only in the L.A. area. The EMP'S can tell where your shot faster. Works in NYC also.
