If you're concerned with background noise, get a Ranger SRA-198. If you're not concerned with background noise, get an RF Limited CR-577. I have the SRA-198, and out of all the mics I've tried (which is quite a few) it's currently my favorite.

Whatever you do, don't waste your time and money on a new RoadKing 56. They are junk these days, definitely NOT what they used to be. A lot of people seem to be nuts over the Astatic 636; I have one and all it does is collect dust...can't hold a candle to my Ranger IMHO.

 

You can forget about the SRA 198 Mic...They are no longer available...

As for the 5 pin 148...There's several online shops that will wire you up any Mic with a 5 pin connector...But if it were me, I would just get a 5 pin to 4 pin adapter so you can run any 4 pin mic wired for the newer Cobras with your old 148...That's what I have and use with my Cobra 2000 GTL...

Has anyone tried a Cobra HG-M84? Might grab one to try. I do suffer from MBA (Microphone Buying Addiction) after all...

Try one of these. I got one and had it modified with the RK 56 step-up transformer and wired for a 4-pin. Awesome mic!

 

For $125 it better be a awesome Mic!

By the way...IMO, the Cobra HG-M77 is a P.O.S... total waste of money...Not sure about the M84, never had one of those, but if they are anything like the rest of Cobra's Mic's made today, I think I would pass...

 

My ebay must be broke, says the price is over $1000 for one of these!!!! $1138.95 to be exact!!!!!

 

Anyone to even consider paying that much money for a mic is an idiot.

 

When he is out of something, he jacks the price up so no one will bid on his ads. I THINK so when he gets stuff back in he just changes the price and doesn't have to re-list each item he has on there.
