My friend who been a trucker for years has a truck it is a 2014 Kentworth, it is up for government repossession for back taxes and they are going to auction it off I also know the auctioneer he said it will probably fetch 5 to 8 thousands since we live in the middle of nowhere and apparently no one comes to the auction. have the financial ability to buy it I do not think I have the experience to be a owner op but I do have a master degree in financial management so if I buy it I would put two experience drivers behind the wheel after all expenses I would split profit 45/55.
So would I be a bad person if I did this I am just trying to gain a financial foothold in this industry.
Would you consider me a cut throat friend if.....

Go for it. He's going to lose it anyway.
rabbiporkchop and BuckeyeKev Thank this. -
That's what I am thinking he went company for western after repossession he my dad's friend.
-
Maybe even buy it then try to sell it yourself for profit ?
rabbiporkchop, blairandgretchen and dannythetrucker Thank this. -
Yep, you would be better off flipping it...long story short...maybe even lease it your buddy. Do you know how to get your mc number or what it even means, buy your own trailer? I have a few buds who are owner ops and all had to drive their rigs again at some point, drivers quitting/fired etc.

That seems doable as well but a 100K, for 5 to 8 grand is too good to pass up.
rabbiporkchop Thanks this. -
Well i can't help you until you tell us where and when the auction is??
Pmracing, LGarrison, blairandgretchen and 2 others Thank this. -
Soon in Virginia tbh, where I live the irs repossessed so much crap from people that there is also a 2012 mustang with lambo, doors sexy.
Reminds me of the DEA raiding the spice shops. -
Gloucester...Virginia...? As is listed on his profile...?
And btw, OP- your dads friends had to know the risks of this business when he got into it. Sure, watching his friends son snap up his former truck is gonna leave a bad taste in his mouth. But there's really not bunk he can say/do that should make you feel bad.
Business is business and friends are friends. Don't mix the two, it rarely works out well.Last edited: Jun 22, 2014
