This has been a discussion on XM radio. What kevin said was one you can't strike because you have no spokeperson or leader. He went on to say in order to strike there has to be 2 sides or parties. In order to strike it is done until the 2 sides come to an agreement and when you strike you don't say we will do this for a week. It is done until a agreement is reached. He said that this a protest or a demonstration. He also wanted to know why some O/O's are making it and the high cost of fuel is not effecting them? He went on to talk about this is an independent movement as company drivers are not paying for the fuel anyway. He broght up a lot of good points.
He also was saying that if fuel price is governed it removes the free trade and was saying that mexico does not want US drivers there because they have fixed prices and do not want the US to go in and cut their prices because they do not have free trade. He also brought up a good point and said if there are 20 trucks waiting to load and there are 10 loads there and you all stick together and say we will not haul your frieght for less than this amount who determines which 10 of the 20 trucks gets the freight?

Well if you understand the power that this industry holds and if Kevin knew the power in this industry you both would know that if we could get at least 90% of the industry to strike at one time we would bring this country to a dead stop. Major industry would be hurting and so would our government. I guess we would be side one and major industry and government would be side 2. I myself would not have a problem being a spokesmen for the trucking industry. So now all we need if for eveyone to come to an agreement on what is really needed and to be able to get that 90% to work together in order to make this really happen and work.
The big problem we have is there is to much hate and discontent in the trucking industry and 98% of the truckers are only worried about them selves. Until this can be changed and everyone in this industry gets a back bone to stand together it will never work.
3 to 4 doays would be all that is needed to get what we want.

Well I would have to disagree with you. This is just the type of thing that hurts everyone. You are only worried about your self. I can understand that but if you think a true shut down would not help you as well as everyone else in this industry then I would have to say look at what happened in other countries where truckers did a shut down. It helped them alot. Oil companies are reporting a 176 billion dollor profit a year. With that kind of profit I do not understand the fuel price. This is hard to stomic. The cost of living has gone up 57% in the last 8 months, yet wages and frieght rates are still the same. The cost of everything has gone up yet wages and frieght rates have not moved unless you are in congress or a big company CEO. It just does not make any sense yet you only want to worry about your self. I guess you don't care if our government becomes a dictatorship as long as you can keep doing what you are doing? Well the government is to be for the people not for big companies, yet that is who they really work for not us the people.

Well; if you would listen to that show you would find that he is a very well informed about the trucking industry. He is current with maintenance, tax laws, brokers, just about anything to do with trucking. He had drivers calling in on the show and you can tell that he is very knowledgeable about what is going on. -
Go look at the fuel prices in OTHER countries and you will be shocked. I actually agree with 99% of what Yoda has to say as he IS very smart and wise with this industry. I also hate to break the news to you, many drivers feel the same way as myself and Yoda. The cost of freight has not gone up BECAUSE WE ALLOW IT! All of the drives who take a load just because they need a back haul is stupid! I don't care if you get paid $6 a mile going into Florida, and $1 a mile coming back out don't haul the cheap freight! if you operating cost is $1.50 a mile, then never, ever, ever haul freight for a $1 a mile! Bounce even farther if you have to! The best way to strike is to do what OOIDA has been doing for a while now, "SAY NO TO CHEAP FREIGHT" that is the most effective way! If we don't haul cheap freight they will be FORCED to pay the correct amount to get it hauled.

You have NO idea on what Kevin knows, trust me he probaly knows more than you and me combined!
Now answer my questions
1. What are you striking for?
2. How are you planning on fixing it? -
So you feel the truckers have power? Why are they not getting $10 a mile for hauling? The oil companies don't seem to have any problems increasing their prices..That demonstrates where the real power is..
You seem to have left out side three the American people.
I see you are volunteering to speak for all truckers, but I haven't yet ( pardon my mentioning it) seen you speak any sense that I would agree with.. How then can you speak for me? How can you speak for all the other drivers who think your simplified C B RAMBO image of what is really happening in the world stinks?
<snip>
What exactly do you think you will accomplish in 3 or 4 days? Will you have empty stores like the Soviet Union? What good will that do you? Do you think the American public will BEG you to lead this country when you have started by proving you don't care if they go hungry?
Once you have attempted to cause food riots and mayhem in the streets, do you think the government will negociate a discounted price of fuel .... is this extortion or problem solving? ( or both).
Maybe you should actually think about what the problem is, and what can be done to solve the problem and less time dreaming about being the next commissar of the USA as leader of the pack.
Just my opinion. -

couldnt have said it any better myself! -
But I have seen you say it just as well.... sigh we seem to go though this every 3 or 4 years... are they re running convoy or something?

Does anyone remember nuta noota? or that guy in Idaho with his internet strike, or the one in Denver... They all volunteered to LEAD all of us to the promised land of "trucker power".
