I hope the van folks get a decent raise too. I started in Feb this year on the flatbed side at .26cpm. Thanks to our new raise I am at .34 now and will be at .41 cpm @ 6 months. I hope they get you folks a better deal too.

You can get away with plug-in inverters, but nothing connected directly to the batteries. So, about 150W max.
That's enough to run a laptop computer and other small things.

Why would anyone work for less than 30 CPM. Even right out of CDL school you should be able to beat that. This job isn't worth doing for that low a wage.

and even for that they make it a pain in the arse, I am supposed to of gotten one installed over a year ago but they wanted me to go see my doctor and get a written letter stating I needed my machine on the road even after I gave them all the medical paperwork, like seriously I must use it at least 4 hours a night like the paperwork says yet I need to prove I need it while driving? sigh swift idiots sometimes

its a pain getting an appointment and I have used a plug in inverter the whole time which works just fine for it, you can also buy a 12v adapter for them which I just havent gotten around to ordering yet.

As for running a microwave and stuff I plan on getting me one of those gen/inverters that can run up to 17 hours on a gallon of gas but dont quite have an extra $600 to spend for it yet

That's right...I keep forgetting about those. I do not have a laptop so no reason to have one, good to know it is an option at least.

are these like the Honda quiet generators? Have not thought of this and your idea intrigues me.

yeah its like the honda one but a little cheaper, the honda ones I know are great but closer to $1k, I know a couple swift drivers use them to run portable A/C's and stuff which is something I also will do if I decide to get my own truck. Pay less than $10 to run a gen and AC or spend $40 to idle the truck, seems to be a simple decision.

One nice thing about a laptop is that it can double as a TV.
All you need is a USB TV Tuner.
