Thank you Gordon A, I have no plans to lease anything. Regardless of pressure.
My specific goals include driving with a CDL to subsidize my income only while I continue to develop my small business. I may drive for a few months OTR hard core to develop my driving skills some, establish a record of safety, and generate some experience, but my long term future does not include OTR.
I've hijacked this thread with my additional comments. My apologies, I will begin a different thread soon.

Day 51 (aka week 10 day 2): That was the quickest Five weeks ever! I meet my trainer tomorrow and I will find out when I leave then but I was told to be ready to leave at the time I meet the trainer.
In case anyone was wondering, Sonex7 was scheduled for his CDL test today but it got cancelled due to a tornado warning. He will probably be rescheduled to tomorrow. -
Thanks for the update, Dum. Good luck

Just a quick update: I've been out on the road for 3 days now. So far so good. My trainer is fairly awesome. They changed the training pay from $58/day to .18/mi so you have to drive if you want to get paid (you know, like in the real world.)
I'm in a parking lot in TN because we ran out of hours before we made it to the truck stop and its stormy out. Headed for Ft Worth in the morning.

Thanks for the update Um. Not good that they changed the rules about pay after you started. You spent the night in a parking lot, huh? I guess there wasnt a truck stop within miles. I'm glad you are enjoying it and close to finishing. Thanks for the updates. Kep us posted.

I read that also, and asked myself why are they changing the pay rules now? Makes me wonder whats next, and why.
-
It is a good and bad thing. As long as I'm driving its a larger paycheck. When there is a repair issue it is a bad thing because I'm not gettting anything. The training period is 12000 miles so being paid by the mile adds an incentive to shorten the training time, too.

in my opinion this pay change should not happen to existing student or employees. Just start the new pay with new hires. That would be the fairest instead of messing with drivers that hired on based on the old system. This smacks of poor financial standing by the company.

Yes it does, and it also smells of a way to weed out drivers, and get rid of employees. I would also like to know how many miles driven a day. If you were making $58 a day comparde to .18 cents a day using a pay/mileage formula would be interesting.
