I personally would go with marten, I talked to a driver from knight and he had nothing but bad to say, but again, that was just his experience. I know it's a starter mega company so that does speak for itself IMO. I haven't heard much about marten other then threads on here and it's mixed, some like it, and some say it's the worst company they've ever worked for. This is my advice, do AS MUCH RESEARCH on both, never mind the comments that people make. Get the facts. How I see it is all these big company's WILL run you if your a good worker/driver. The miles are out there you just gotta prove yourself. There are just too many people that come on here and are mad about this and that, when it could just be the DRIVER! Not the company! Good luck with your decision, anything will be better than the ol blue screw!

Theres a section that talks about all the big company's, well some. Just find the best fit for you, Roehl has a 7-7 and a 7-3 7-4 somthing you might want to look into. I used to work for them and there not a bad place to get exp

I agree roehl was a good company to get started with. I was with them almost a year..only complaint i had was getting home...seemed it was always a problem..but i was not on the 7-7 or 7-14 progam.

I've discovered how to get max miles at Knight. You have to have your truck break at another terminal and get a loaner from that terminal. I've had two sets of dispatchers making sure the truck is moving. Guess they both are getting credit for my miles.
-
LOL, rack up those miles ! I haven't heard a word on my start date. Must be they are to busy to bother with me

I first drove for Crete then drove for Knight out of the Salt Lake Terminal. It's been 4+ years since I drove OTR and I'm reconsidering getting back into it.
I joined this forum to see what the current landscape is in the industry.
I can tell you first hand that I will NOT go back to Knight. When I was there, they talked about "no forced loads" and this was my main reason for switching over (Crete, at the time, had a forced dispatch policy).
The dispatchers at Knight pulled the same two-faced moves you hear about from other lousy companies. They offer you a load and if you refuse, guess what...? You either sit in some god-forsaken place or sometimes have the dispatcher yell at you for refusing loads.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, I was naive for buying this into manure but give me a break - it was just my second year of driving.
My last dispatcher at the Salt Lake terminal was a guy named Tom. A major douche. Before that it was some bald guy that taught firearms training in his spare time. Also a major douche. I don't know if either of two idiots are still there or not.
IF I decide to get back into OTR, I WON'T be submitting a rehire app at Knight. -
:/ tomorrow m contacting rohel
