Hello everyone, Great Web site!!!

Hi everyone, I have been reading alot on here for the past 6 months and finally decided to join. A big thank you to all that contribute information on here to help others out. A little about me: I am 50 years old, and after years of unsatisfying jobs, I decided to follow in my Fathers footsteps and drive truck. My 4 daughters are grown, and my wife encouraged me to go do something I have wanted to do for many years, so here I am. I went to an accredited CDL school last October, and began my driving career within a week of graduating. I left Illinois and headed to ND to haul crude oil. Learning to drive in the ND winter was quite a challenge, but I managed to do it with no incidents. The money has been good, but the cost of living, and flying back and forth for my home time, pretty much eats away at the BIG money I had hoped to make.

Because of this, I am considering coming back home and going OTR, hopefully Flatbedding or pulling a tanker. I have been considering TMC, Maverick, or Boyd Bros. for the flatbed side but have no idea who would be good to try to work for pulling a tanker. I would appreciated any thoughts or ideas from other members who know more about the industry than I do. I live 35 miles east of Effingham, IL or the intersection of I70 & I57. Been driving for 7 months now, a little over 60,000 miles without any incidents. I have Hazmat, Tankers, and double-triple endorsements. I have never ( knock on wood) lol...had an accident or moving violation in my life, and have never been arrested or charged with any crime. I would love input - ideas from other drivers so I can try to make a good career choice. I dont like changing jobs, and am looking for a driving career, and not a driving job. Thank you for the replies Guys. I will check out a few of the companies you told me about. Some of them I had already looked at, the bad part is most tanker companies want more experience than I have. I will probably keep hauling crude in ND till the end of September, but would like to have a plan in the works, and maybe a job already lined out before I leave. With any luck, I can land a job with a good company that rewards hard work. Thanks again for the input, it is greatly appreciated.....thepapa
