I wouldnt doubt it, then I can drive as a mindless bored zombie...
my audiobooks keep me awake and alert keeping my mind running with minimal distraction, I just pause when needed during city driving.

There are no restrictions on headsets while hauling hazmat. It's just stuff man, like all the other stuff we all pull. The difference is when you dump a load, emergency response needs to know what they are dealing with, some is actually quite harmless, some can be devastating. The reason many (not all ) cities route hazmat around. If your pulling reefer, van, tank, flats and on and on you work to not get in accidents or roll overs, ect. The same with hazmat loads, no difference. Restrictions differ state to state and from class to class as far as cities, tunnels, some bridges but that's really about it.

I've been through a lot worse, but I'm just not prepared to put this profession, this job; that I love so very much, on the line, for a few extra CPM.
Hazmat is a big responsibility. I'm capable of taking on big responsibility. That doesn't mean I want to.
Hell, I'll be a skateboarder soon enough anyhow- kind of makes this a moot point on the whole.
Placard is just not worth it, in my book. Certainly not worth it, when I'm ####-chatting on the head set. Might change! dunno. Crystal ball has been a little cloudy, lately.

I didn't know I was so awesome when I haul hazmat. It's really no big deal. But if it makes you nervous you should probably stay away from chemical tanking. .55 cpm is worth it to me.

I'm a tanker yanker and I haul a lot of hazmat. No, it is not illegal to use your bluetooth headset when hauling haz. Personally, I only answer my wifes ring and sometimes will answer when dispatch calls.

Hey chief, I don't often shy away from a challenge. But I also screw up. Can't help but feel hazmat is a challenge I can afford to let my pride take a hit on.

Afterall, what are you ######## about? More miles for you! :biggrin_25525:

If a driver thinks they need to be more careful hauling hazmat versus any other freight please give up your CDL. You should be careful period. You're still moving 80K lbs of freight. The only difference between hazmat and non hazmat loads are the results in the event of a crash. Oh, and it pays more. I treat my hazardous and non hazardous loads the same. Plenty of following distance and eyes peeled.

    Skydivedavec Thanks this.
