Hi Friends,
I'm getting ready for my CDL school, and been doing some recon on the field.
One thing i have noticed is that Truckers are in terrible shape...even the young ones.
SOMEONE straighten me out here..."Why don't truckers exercise?"
Is there time to bring a set of dumbbells with you use them while at a Truck Stop?
Am i dreaming....or is this possible?
Why don't you exercise ?

The flatbed guys aren't in terrible shape, a lot of truckers aren't in terrible shape. You're just seeing the guys walking around that eat 3,000 calories a day in twinkies and deep fried truck stop food, and getting most of their exercise walking to the bathroom, in the mornings.
As far as getting dumbells in the truck- where you planning on putting them?
I've had okay luck with those elastic bands- you can double/tripple them up to protect your muscle tone; but it's not going to do a lot.
You could always go fingerprint freight for a living.Tonythetruckerdude and jjsiegal Thank this. -
THEY don't want to.
Once out there you will understand "why" more. -
Thanks Cab... Now what is "fingerprint freight?"

OK, here's the cold hard truth ..and I'm a bit ashamed to say it, but, the fact of the matter is a good percentage of truck drivers are just plain lazy. They just want to drive and eat and lay in their bunk and watch movies. They are not likely to park too far from the front door, because that means they will have to walk a few more steps. Some even "park" on the fuel island because that's pretty darn close to the door, right ? They wouldn't be caught dead unloading a floor load and eating healthy ? You gotta' be kidding. That's why most truck stops have not 1 or 2 fast food outlets on the premises, but maybe even 3. The drivers want them. Don't get me wrong, drivers do have some extra time and they could walk around the truck stop for 20 min daily, but how many do you see doing it ? A few truck stops had (notice I said HAD) gym equipment but they removed them for lack of usage. I will say this, it's very hard to eat healthy and excersise while on the road, as opposed to doing it at home.
jungledrums, browndawg, GenericUserName and 7 others Thank this. -
People that actually work for a living are too wore out at the end of the day to exercise. Fingerprinting freight is working for UPS, FEDEX, etc.

Some divers are plain lazy. Then some run too hard and don't feel like working some more once their shift is over. Can't blame them for that.
