Community College programs are best for private training.

It is the opinion of the majority of folks here that all trucking schools are about the same. So what you are looking for is the cheapest school you can find. You will only learn enough to get you a CDL period. You will not know what you are doing until you actually spend time riding along with someone. That you will do once you get hired.

Unless of course you already know how to drive because you were raised on a farm.

You can go to company schools and they usually provide you with a job afterwards. I went to a community college.

I wish you luck in your new career. A google search list a lot of different schools . Call them and find out the cost. Go with the one you can afford.

I went to FFE/KLLM and by far they are the best. I went to CRST a few years ago and they are rude and basically just teach enough to pass test to get CDL. FFE/KLLM is big on safety and will not put up with slackers while training, so make sure you do work asked of you. But, all the instructors do care and it is a family like atmosphere.

cant speak for private schools but I can say if it is 3 or 4 weeks long you will not be able to really drive a truck good at the end because at least a quarter of the time will be class work and about 1/2 the remaining time will be backing the rest shifting and driving. If you are sharing these few days of driving with others in a class you are only looking at 10 to 20 hours behind the wheel driving on the road which may be enough to pass the cdl road course, but not really enough to know what you are doing. If you want to go to a company school Millis is for sure the way to go.

Is FFE/KLLM the only company that will pay for training and guarantee you a job in DFW?

FFE does not guarantee a job, once you go through the class and also pass company driving test, then you have the job.
