The amount of bull from this post is too much to handle. That aside, what do YOU expect the driver to do on their 10 hour break?! You can run your little heart out, just like you said, but at the end of the day, we all need that 10 hour break, or 8/2. But the megas that hire steer holders more than likely dont know how to do 8/2, so lets stick with the 10 break.

    1. Sweat
    2. Go to breakroom in truck stop if one is available.
    3. Get hammock for under your trailer
    4. Go to youtube and make redneck AC/cooler.
    5. That's what loose leaf logs are for. Yeee Hawwww.
    6. Do all the above and pull up your big boy pants. Do I have to tell you rookies how to do everything?

$35 in fuel for a 10hr break.... these companies are making money hand over fist on your labor and think nothing of wasting fuel deadheading you around. Idle it up! As for anti idle laws, well, I don't go to places that have them but when I did, give me the ticket and go away so I can go back to sleep in my cold/warm bunk.

I see a JBS truck in your picture, I always notice they have super singles, which means they are reallllly focused on saving that fuel (which is just a cost of doing business), so that means they must have drilled it in your head to never idle. Are you that brain washed? Do we need to call for help to get you out of there?

Also, my solution about idling was just to go local lol.

Best thing to do if you don't want to be subjected to this is...

    1. Find a company with APU's.
    2. Get a home everyday job.

This shouldn't be a surprise to people when the hire on to do OTR...if you are surprised then quit. Driver has the advantage.

I chose option 2. Best decision ever. I still get to drive truck, and I get to be home everyday with weekends off, earning more than I did doing OTR. Only bad part, ill never get to be that trucker who brags about being away from home for 2 months at a time. Darnt. Guess you have to give up something.

That's all well and good, but consider newbies who basically have to run OTR until they can get the experience to land a nice paying local gig. Some people also might live in areas with very limited local options, and so at that point, something has to be figured out. Luckily, I have access to an APU.

Oh yeah, Im not disagreeing at all. Even though I dont have to worry about it, i still think about it, and it sickens me that theyre getting away with it. I see all these articles about dogs left in hot cars, but its perfectly fine for a driver to not have any air.
