2 straps first 10 feet. 1 there after. bulkhead or not.
if you haul pallets and what not. 2 on the first and last row.
depending on what i haul though. but if i have a stepdeck. i may just use 1 if the entire load is on the bottom deck. and up against the wall.
strapping

Yeah no bulkheads just straight 45 foot trailers. We have a couple of stepdecks and the expanding pipe trailers and that is it. I did figure out after someone pointed it out that there are exactly 2 feet between stake pockets on our trailers so I count the pockets and either add or move straps as appropriate. We also have the pipe bolsters on the trailer for additional support, it really makes me nervous to see a pipe truck go by with not even the short bolsters only a a handful of straps on and the ones on are flapping. Which brings up another point, these guys that brag about what they have driven where they have been, etc(you know the type "came out of my momma with steering wheel in one hand gear shift in the other" guys) I try and treat every load like there is that possibility something can go wrong. I look at it like this, every four wheeler I meet on the road I want them to make it home to their wife kids etc. even if they are driving like they don't care who is around them.

What the article says is two in the first ten and one for every fraction of ten feet thereafter.
