OK, 24 years since 1990, going on 25. I'm suffering a bad case of shift workers disorder today. It will be worse after the next run. And Joe, I thought some of us didn't want infants and juveniles involved with trucking, not for me to say, though.
So tell me, if you pull in to get fuel and get prevented, somehow, from completing the transaction, how do you log that?
Cash card approved before pumping and the readout tells you to see the fuel desk when you finish before leaving? Happened to me at a Pilot, but the usual is for no authorization or the card reader won't read or the card can't be read. If you really need fuel, you go to the desk.
I just 'love' EFS, except for the checks, those are much easier than Comcheck.joseph1135 Thanks this. -
I'll let you slide on the math! Lol. But I look at it this way. I'll "fix it" if I can't get fuel. Comdata (that's what we have) only shows when the transaction is complete. What happens before/ after fueling can be logged off duty. Unless pooping is an on duty situation (and in some cases, it should also be an environmental disaster) what you're doing that out of that truck when not conducting business is none of HOS' concern.

I don't want hourly wage and I don't work for cents per mile. I work for percentage as an o/o and I did as a company driver. I can make more working percentage on elogs than most of you could on hourly. Hourly wages is already an option if the company decides to pay that way. the government needs to stay out of it. if you do not like the way thi industry pays then don't work as a truck driver, go get a job in some other industry. nobody is forcing you to go work that job making 40 cents a mile or at 30% of 100%. when you accepted that job at the pay method they offered then you agreed to it. if you don't like it quit and go somewhere else. I get so sick of people who think they are owed something when you aren't. I get so sick of people who will take a job then cry and complain about how the company is run or how they pay. too many people forget that when they took the d ammn job they agreed to the pay and working conditions.

OK I still have to have the pump authorized to pump any fuel, the glitch I mentioned at the Pilot, was after authorization, something removed the authorization after the transaction should have been complete.
With EFS at least, the authorization has to come through before the pump will turn on, it might take 5 seconds to as much as a minute after all of the info has been accepted, and it's been years since I used Com-data and the screens at the pumps and readers have changed in that time. I'll take your word on whatever you say about how Com-data works with pay at the pump.
This thread was about HOS and ELDS(ELOGS?) making us safe? from ? what? The fact that there are glitches doesn't make me feel safer, any glitch ending up on the wrong 'radar' will have you feeling scrutiny from someone, and probably more than one someone. I also think the no supporting info needed has gone away with the less inclusive ELD versus the EOBR, but I haven't found anything either way on that issue.
I haven't noticed much scrutiny, but I understand the HOS rules very well.
I'm not endorsing the effectiveness of such rules, either. I think parts are just baloney and do harm some of us. -
