I just talked with CRST in Cedar Rapids, Iowa and it sounds like a good deal. 6 weeks to get CDL A in Cedar Rapids and then a contract to work with them for 8 months, and they pay for everything.
The only problem I have with CRST is the whole team driving thing. I would rather train for six weeks get my CDL and then drive solo. I can't imagine driving with the same person 10 hrs a day for 8 months. It would drive me crazy. Is there any place like CRST but without the team driving aspect?
Thanks
Ryan

Anytime now Chinatown will be here to answer that question. If anyone knows, it will be him.
Very helpful.tow614 Thanks this. -
Run don't walk away from anything to do with CRST. Also England, Stevens, FFE other rats. Check out Millis Transfer, Roehl, even Swift.
Joetro Thanks this. -
Crest is horrid. I met drivers who were stuck for a week waiting for an oil pan to be replaced. Crest sent two wrong ones in a row.

Every big company has some sort of special get up.
Whether it be at a special community college or at a company school. Just gotta ask em.
Like here at Conway I think its like 1800$ if you get your cdl at crowder college then work here.
Every company has some set up just gotta ask. -
Check out Millis and Swift. Way better experience than CRST. Both provide solid CDL training. Millis would be my first choice.

Ok thanks I will check out Mills first.

I've been considering Watkins-Shepard out of Missoula, MT when I'm ever at a point to make that leap. I have too many things to get together at home to make the lifestyle change, but they are local (location, not driving) for me which I find comforting, being a small-town guy. They have a 10 day training/competency exam then send you go out solo. You have to get your CDL on your own first from a school, but I believe W/S pays toward your school costs after you are hired on.

They said they pay for a bus to come pick me up in NJ and take me to Iowa. I think they pay for a hotel room and food too, Im not 100% on that though.
