I had two this morning that did exactly that, one of them came flying up to my front wheel, cut over and then slammed on the brakes to make a turn, she almost got a 45,000 alteration to her car. The really bad thing is no one was behind me at all, they all stopped for the light a 1/2 mile back.

The other was a couple coming out of burger king who just had to make the turnaround across the road, they came into the first two lanes of a four lane divided road and then tried to make the next lane but there was a car there so they swerved back into the lane which scared the crap out of the truck driver who was slowing down for them and it looked like they would hit him but instead as soon as the car got out of the way, they continued on their way to the turnaround and right into my lane. I was slamming on the brakes anyway but it was really irritating when they decided that they couldn't just make the turn lane but had to stop in order to make it.

OH and I forgot the one who was so impatient that he decided to drive on the grass and shoulder to pass me, I was loaded at 80k gross going up a small hill where it went down to one lane.

on the other hand, pedestrians are a big problem too. I had a begger standing on the small median next to an on ramp for a freeway, There are two lanes where this is at that go onto the freeway. I was coming through it at 30 mph and it looked like he was going to step right in front of the truck, at the same time I got some idiot trying to pass me on the right while I was trying not to hit the guy, I don't think I hit anyone but he slammed on his brakes.

Yesterday I had a car see a firetruck on the freeway, on the opposite side, he cut me off and then stopped for it.

I had one customer ride with me one day, he had to be dropped off at one of their customers where I was delivering. He thanked me for the ride and said he could never believe that I take things so calmly when it is obvious that people make truck targets.

Interfering with Interstate Commerce was the most serious charge that resulted in a 5 year prison sentence. Several other violations including reckless driving are what revoked her license.....which she won't need for at least 5 years! :)

Non-violent offense, she'll be out in 1-2 if she actually gets behind bars.

Prisons are too crowded these days.

I agree. Not likely to be messing with trucks in the future. :)

If someone cuts in front of you and brakes, keep your lane and reduce your speed safely. 'Safely' means NOT braking hard. If you end up making contact and pushing them down the road, then so be it. Yes, you'll spend hours waiting for the cops to show up, investigate, write up paperwork and write the other driver a ticket. But maybe somebody will learn something in the end, and won't do that kind of thing again.

I see this all the time with hazmat drivers. Specifically gasoline haulers.
