    Day job?

    Hi friends,

Doing my research and wanted to know the following

Is it possible to get a Driving job working under the following conditions?

    1. hours like 6am-6PM?
    2. no heavy lifting (*bad back)
    3. local or semi-local driving

What kinda driving job describes the above?

    thanks!

Sure there are. Only thing is you will be in competition with the guy who has been driving for many more years than you with a clean record and he wants to go home every night too. If there are enough jobs in your area, new drivers can get these jobs too. Might be a little harder with the no heavy lifting ... I am thinking of possible jobs like delivering couches and fridges that people buy at stores. If there is construction in your area, maybe you can drive a concrete truck, or deliver shingles or building supplies to new houses being built, etc. Hauling gasoline you will probably need a couple years safe driving experience for insurance requirements, also probably a lot of night shift work because less cars on the road. Good luck to you.

    jjsiegal Thanks this.

If you lived in a different area this is highly possible.

Yep...that's the issue. Driving at night, in a strange area. Not easy....
    Thanks!

No offense jjsiegal, but you are on here asking the same question every other day. You continue to get the same answers every time, which is, I presume, not the answers you're looking for. If you're unwilling to take a less than ideal job in order to gain experience, then trucking might not be for you. As others have repeatedly said, those rare cushy jobs with bankers hours typically go to the guys with lots of experience and seniority. Trucking is just not a 9-5 kind of industry.

    Thanks 8th.

No...i don't ask the same questions. I do searches online and if i can't find the answer i come and ask here. Hope you're not offended....but i like to get "specific"....that's why i ask these questions.

    Have a good one...!

I looked on craigslist, indeed, career builder and the CDL job market there is not so hot. You have water to the east, south and west there and probably little to no industry...except for the service industry. I could be wrong.

I pull a flatbed home every night have to deal with some tarps not many. Company has five trucks. We mostly pull lumber off the trains. Here you can get daytime local jobs pulling intermodal. Containers off the trains. There are also lots of low paying jobs spotting vans.
