I'm hardly a Knight cheerleader. I was pointing out your deficit at the moment, not theirs. As for the HOS thing, I found communication as to when you can legally make the run is all that is needed. Or was the problem you didn't want to take your 10 off at the customer because you HAD to be at a truck stop?
-
First of all, what deficit are you referring to? You're resorting to circular reasoning. You say I have a deficit but don't give specific examples other than accusing me of being a "PITA" to use your words.
Secondly, my experience with the two idiots at the Salt Lake terminal differed from yours. They did things to pump as many miles out of the drivers - legal or NOT - to improve their stats. No doubt they get some sort of incentives for being the top dispatcher at that terminal. I did notice a chalk board with each of their names and the total amount of miles their drivers did each month.
So don't lecture me about just communicating with my those two idiots about taking a 10 at the consignee. I've done that plenty and didn't mind it. The way they ran me, it would've been a matter of time before I was busted ON MY WAY to the consignee and have that on my record. -
There's a solution to that problem. Take the load then tell them on the QC you don't think you can make it legally. Then when you are gonna run out of time shut down and call in. When the CSR calls yelling at you calmly explain why her freight didn't make it and point her(or him) to the QC message. DM attitude adjustments do follow when this method is employed.
-
And what happens when the dispatch gets yelled at because the freight didn't make to the consignee as scheduled...?
I'll tell you what happens. They figure out a way to stick it to you in the near future.
###### if you do ###### if you don't. It was better for me to flat out refuse loads in those cases. This way, I avoid getting in trouble for HOS violation, and it tells logistics to figure out another way to make the load happen or push back on the delivery date/time. -
And another thing. You called me a "PITA" in an earlier post.
Now who would be a bigger pita - the driver who flat out says "I don't have enough hours to make the load happen so find someone else" OR the driver who takes the load and fails to make the appointment time?
At least the driver who flat out refuses the load has set boundaries for these scumbags AND he's doing everything possible to keep his record clean for when he applies to better outfits. And that's the driver I was. So I'm only a pita to logistics idiots who don't know how to preplan and resort to coercing drivers to "just make it happen" and then claim innocence when the driver gets into trouble for driving when he wasn't supposed to. -
Seems we had two different approaches. Actually I've used both approaches at Knight and I can tell you the kill them with kindness way works a lot better. Occasionally letting a know it all fall on their face while doing as told and staying legal doing it teaches DM's lessons they can apply later. It works for me a lot better then telling them no all the time.
-
You still don't get it. The scumbag dispatchers Mike (bald head, designer jeans) and Tom (brown haird/beard glasses) did not play by your rules when I was there.
If you took a load, by god you'd better get it there - legal or not. And anyone who doesn't make delivery time as scheduled would fall victim to some vindictive action by them on a future load.
And no - these scumbags were too arrogant to think a driver can teach them a lesson.
And when did I imply that I told them "no all the time" as you stated? There you go again, putting words into my mouth. -
You still did not answer this question. What "deficit" are you referring to...?
In your first post to me, you called me a "PITA" and now you say I have a "deficit" So, in your bizarre logic, I'm a PITA because I have a deficit and I have a deficit and therefore am a PITA. Classic ad hominem attacks backed up with circular logic. -
The deficit I refer to is the impression I get of you as viewing people( i.e. those idiot scum DM's) in very stark black and white terms. People aren't that simple. You also have a very my way or the highway attitude(I run here, I don't want to haul that load, etc.). In general I would guess you could be summed up as "Doesn't play well with others. Your choice of nicks backs up that impression.
