I usually drive nights in a team operation. I like it that way. My co-driver has to put up with loading, unloading and CA. traffic, but he prefers driving days. It's usually my job to make up for time lost during the day but I like it. Some advantages I've found is being able to grab a shower at 3am without having to wait. Also it's nice to pull into a receiver before the morning traffic starts. I usually find a station I like on the satellite radio, sip on a 24 oz black coffee and set it on cruise and drive. The only complaint my co driver and me have is COULD SOMEBODY PLEASE FIND A WAY TO MATCH THE BRIDGES WITH THE REST OF THE ROAD !!

Love driving at night. Less traffic.

When you run the same route everynight, you learn where the hidden parking spots are real fast.
To adjust the sleep schedule to the opposite of normal:
First, on your weekend off, stay up all night, and don't lay down until about 9am. Keep moving, mow the yard, paint the garage, do yard work by lighting the yard with your car's highbeams. Just don't risk falling asleep. Force yourself to stay awake.
Next night, repeat this torture again. By Sunday or Monday night when you start your night schedule. You will have your body primed to stay up at night. However, if you change your sleep schedule back to "normal" every weekend off, you're gonna feel like a zombie all the time. It's a surreal experience living with this chronic fatigue. Kid of like you're standing out a window watching your life unfold, rather than actually being there. Ever had jet lag? It's jet lag all the time. It's toture!
So keep up a rigid and stable schedule to avoid having too much fatigue.bulldog522002 and jjsiegal Thank this. -
Oversize is fun at night. I love pissing people off when the only time we can drop a machine is at 2am!

One good thing about nightdriving for me is somehow that midnight-6am period flies by in what feels like a couple of hours. I have no idea why. I do enjoy the peacefulness of night. Maybe that is it. Maybe the sense of serenity i derive from night makes it fly by. I have no idea. In any case my teammate cant stand it and i pretend the same and always offer to "take one for the team". He seems to be very grateful for my "kindness".
bulldog522002 Thanks this.
