I think the 30min break is a joke.. If an driver doesn't have the sense to know when to stop to stretch and break... They shouldn't be driving.
-
Well, I can see the appeal of that, to a point. At least that way you don't have to worry about a mortgage or car payment, and can bank a lot of money.
I couldn't do it though. I need to be grounded somewhere. -
In that case...
You are in big trouble, mister, and now you're grounded!
(Bad jokes... They're kind of my thing) -
I do the "grounding" around these parts, "mister".

So I noticed.

Why in the world would you pay WalMart when all you have to do is assist? Most of the time, "assisting" is standing there watching the hotshot on the forklift work his magic. Very few times have I actually broken a pallet down.

I get by with taking a 34 hour restart in a hotel suite (not a regular hotel room) once a month.
Comfort Suites in Yukon, OK is a nice spot for me. -
I disagree, sometimes there are golden offers and opportunities in trucking. Some are pure crap but others aren't.
Also many newer drivers will not stay out a week or so on the road so I look for the industry to change regarding that as the older guys retire. -
well some drivers like kids need their hands hold, but I hear what you saying, I don't have a issue with the 34 because I always have hrs to burn, I'm home on the weekends
