3:70 is a good gear set pulls mountains and hills great. As long as those are 11R22.5 tires you can cruise 68mph right at 1,500 rpms in that truck and get around 7 mpg if you've got everything in tip top shape no boost leaks, overhead adjustment, etc. If they're lopro you'll have to drive a little slower to get the mpg's. I've got 3:70's with a single turbo in my truck pulling a dry van and I avg over 6 with ease. That truck has a roof fairing mine doesn't. I think it'd be a good truck if it checked out ok. But like he says you can forget CA which sucks since you live there.

Probably playing the odds and so far they've been in his favor...There's all kinds of trucks over there that are not CARB compliant, I see it every time I'm over there...I myself would not play the odds though, the stakes are too high if you're caught.

Here's the thing. You can probably pick up similar T600 or T800 in the $25-$35K price range that have an inframe with paperwork from CAT or Cummins. Considering a platinum inframe on that T800 plus some other probably needed upgrades not included in the overhaul costing north of $20,000 then you're over $40,000 into that truck if you buy it now. Is it worth it? Maybe they'd take $15,000 for it, maybe then? Maybe not it is a KW. I don't know everyone looks at if different. I think you could save several thousands buying one with a fresh inframe though.

Old trucks with good specs are worth putting money into. That's just my opinion.
