electric problem 2005 volvo 670

    Hello i have a 2005 volvo 670 isx400 and for the past couple of months i hhave been having electrical issues.
    1. Volts read about 12.5 to 13.2 while driving
    2.whhile driving truck loses electric power for 4 seconds with engine still runing.
    3.i wil get errors tht my marker and headlights have shorts and after i turn it off and on 4 times it comes back to normal.

    sounds like when my alternater went bad I have a 06 ved12. I am not a mech. just a driver but may be a place to start

    I replaced the alternator and i still get 13.7v when not moving, but when i start driving,it goes down to 12.7-13.3

    maybe the belt is slipping from a bad tensioner pulley. I've had the same issues with my truck for the last three years, with no load on the engine it will be pushing 14v and as soon as you put a load on it the volts will drop to 13-13.5. I've tried everything, new alternator, checked gauges, cleaned all connections(numerous times) replaced tensioner pulley, and checked/replaced batteries. Nothing has cured the problem so I just gave up and live with it.

    So u think i should replace the tensioner pulley?

    You could try it. There is a way to check to see if it is still good but I don't know exactly how to do that.
