Hi Glp, I hear ya, I never do that either, unless I'm ticked off at someone, as in, " LOOK HERE, SIR". I always called a cop, officer, and never, never, NEVER, call a woman officer, "Ma'am".:biggrin_2554:
Or "dear''........made that mistake on one young enough to be my daughter once......

I heard they usually let you off with a warning when you refer to them as "sweet thang"...

I think what I was trying to convey was slightly overlooked here.
I know how to keep a positive attitude, deal with rude people and put them in a better mood, letting ugly things roll off my shoulder, so on, etc...

What I originally asked was if being spoken to like you are less-than and undue disrespect bothered you guys as it does me.
Not so much as being called "Driver," that was just an example.

This is something our industry is unchecked in. The flip-floppers? Yeah they probably have it coming in some way. But those of us that are professionals should hold ourselves to a higher standard than to be subject to non-professional conduct.
Why not? Seems in every other industry, this sort of behavior would get that nasty clerk fired...

Only reason I can gather is they deal with so many flip-floppers who barely muster a "sup..." instead of "Hi, how are ya? I'm from "X" and here for an "X."

It doesn't bother me... Maybe it use to, I don't remember.

But I do like being called driver. And when they are real jerks, I love waving bye-bye as I'm grabbing gears on my way out the gate!

when I am at a retail establishment and see a manager mistreating an employee I make sure to complain....

like I was at a mcdonalds a few months ago and some manager start getting upset at the person helping me for going to slow, and I looked at the manager and said "excuse me, this person is helping me, and I don't come here to hear you be an #######"

This manager quickly was no where to be seen. Sometimes us consumers have the power...we need to stop spending money at businesses that hurt their employees. I would never shop at at woods again and I would make sure the manager/owner/CEO knew why. That's why I buy at costco and Starbucks, becuase they treat their employees well. Stop rewarding the crooks with your dollars.

in the days of social media this shouldn't have to happen. That woman in your story should contact the consumer protection investigative reporter for her TV station. Have Jesse Jones, investigative reporter, ambushing the CEO on the 5 o clock news "why don't your employees get time to grieve" the negative fallout and PR hit would have to be bad.
