I am one of those statistics! Lasted a whole 3 weeks before saying I had enough.

You have no idea what you are getting into!!

Funny thing is I am now ready to give it another shot. You have to have a big WHY! Why am I doing this? I am better prepared this second time around with a new plan and new attitude.

trucking is a major lifestyle change, add to that, the gooberment regulations. add to that, everything else trucking.

you have to be really nuts to want this career.

if it works out for you likeing. then more power to you. but the majority, won't like.

let's put it this way. ther only time someone wants to be a trucker. (somewhat speaking). is when the economy sucks. and they can't find a job anywhere else.

america don't like truckers. but when they can't find a job anywhere else. then they all love truckers and want our jobs. is what it boils down to.

The last statistics for turnover was 76%, down from over 130%. There are a number of reasons why there is such a high turnover rate. Much of it has to do with a lack of communication skill of drivers. Some may have a problem and rather than discussing it with their dispatcher or driver manager, they quit and go to another carrier. Most carriers hire dispatcher with little or no experience in the seat of a truck. This makes it difficult for them to be empathetic with drivers. There are many who came to this industry with a lopsided view of this career choice and what it entales. In recent years drivers have turned to trucking from other professions, such as IT. Driving otr can be stressful for drivers and their families. Some thrive with the separation while it can act as a wedge in their relationship with others.

One of the many things that I found to be an issue for me was the TRUCK. Truck Truck Truck Truck Truck and then some more truck. Even at the truck stop! What do you find? More truck!
Be prepared to be trucked out....in a very short time. Quite overwhelming!!! So be prepared.

Just the other day I was sitting in a truck notice I don't say my truck and eating lunch. As I sat there looking out of this truck I realized how many years I've sat in a truck staring out the window of trucks. Then I asked myself how did I get here? It's been a long rough road. Finally I can see the end. Don't be this guy.

To me i think it is all about being a gypsy. Open roads , finding new places , all with a company tracking you more than the goverment !
